Sintered Duplex Stainless Steels Corrosion Properties
Materials Science Forum, 2007This work presents mechanical properties and corrosion resistance of duplex stainless steels obtained through powder metallurgy starting from austenitic X2CrNiMo17-12-2 (AISI 316L), martensitic X6Cr13 (AISI 410L) powders by controlled addition of alloying elements in the proper quantity to obtain the chemical composition of the structure similar to ...

Thermodynamics of duplex stainless steels
Materials Science and Technology, 1990AbstractThe thermodynamic predictions of microstructures in the multicomponent alloys used for duplex stainless steels are discussed in detail in this paper. The production of the duplex ferrite–austenite microstructure by high temperature (1323–1423 K) annealing is considered.

Duplex Stainless Steels for Tanks
CORROSION 2002, 2002Abstract Due to its poor corrosion resistance, carbon steel is often replaced by stainless steel to build storage tanks for use in water treatment units, food, chemical and para chemical industries. For years, 316L has been widely used. Recently, duplex (austenitic-ferritic) stainless steels have been selected due to improved corrosion ...

Highly alloyed duplex stainless steels
Journal of Materials for Energy Systems, 1985The corrosion resistance and mechanical properties of thirteen experimental cast duplex stainless steels were evaluated. These 24 pct Cr steels contain 4.5 to 7.5 pct Mo, 7 to 17 pct Ni and 0.2 to 0.4 pct N. The 24Cr- 6Mo- 9.5Ni- 0.25N steel had the best combination of corrosion and mechanical properties.

Friction Welding Duplex Stainless Steel
Offshore Technology Conference, 1988ABSTRACT Despite the excellent corrosion and high yield strength advantages offered by ferritic-austenitic duplex stainless steel its use for submarine pipelines has been limited because of slow welding procedures and resulting high installation cost.

AbstractThis paper presents an overview of duplex stainless steels (DSS) with particular emphasis on super DSS, i.e. steels containing sufficient amounts of chromium, molybdenum, and nitrogen to produce a pitting resistance equivalent greater than 40. Duplex stainless steels have an attractive combination of mechanical and corrosion properties and are ...

Nickel-free duplex stainless steels
Scripta Materialia, 1998It is well known that nitrogen-alloying in steel produces a variety of exceptional properties such as high strength, high ductility and, eventually, resistance to stress corrosion cracking. High-nitrogen steels (HNS), therefore, have recently been developed to enhance the strength and corrosion resistance of stainless steels.

Welding duplex and super duplex stainless steels
Anti-Corrosion Methods and Materials, 1995Duplex stainless steels have become important competitors to austenitic stainless steels in many applications and a great deal of attention has focused on the welding aspects. The introduction of modern grades with improved properties and a competitive price level have increased their use in the offshore, petrochemical and shipbuilding industries, for ...
