Microstructural Features and Ductile-Brittle Transition Behavior in Hot-Rolled Lean Duplex Stainless Steels

open access: yesQuantum Beam Science, 2020
The characteristics of texture and microstructure of lean duplex stainless steels with low Ni content produced through hot rolling followed by annealing were investigated locally with electron backscatter diffraction and globally with neutron diffraction.

Weldability of Duplex Stainless Steel [PDF]

open access: yesMaterials and Manufacturing Processes, 2015
Duplex stainless steels (DSSs) have many advantages due to the unique structural combination of ferrite and austenite grains. The structural change of these materials is very complex during welding, and it deteriorates the functional properties. This research investigates different welding processes such as laser beam, resistance, tungsten inert gas ...

Microbiologically influenced corrosion of stainless steel independent of sulfate-reducing bacteria

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2022
The presence and activities of microorganisms on metal surfaces can affect corrosion. Microbial communities after such corrosion incidents have been frequently analyzed, but little is known about the dynamics of microbial communities in biofilms on ...

Corrosion and Wear Properties of Cold Rolled 0.087% Gd Lean Duplex Stainless Steels for Neutron Absorbing Material

open access: yesNuclear Engineering and Technology, 2016
Lean duplex stainless steels with 0.087 wt.% gadolinium (Gd) were inert arc-melted and cast in molds of size 10 mm × 10 mm × 20 mm. The micro-hardnesses of the rolling direction (RD), transverse direction (TD) and short transverse (ST) direction were 258.

A Testis‐Specific Aralkylamine N‐Acetyltransferase Regulates Dimorphic Sperm Function and Male Fertility in Moths

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We identify a Lepidoptera‐conserved testis‐specific arylalkylamine N‐acetyltransferase (LTNAT) that governs male moth fertility via a novel mechanism. LTNAT loss disrupts eupyrene sperm mitochondrial derivatives and impairs apyrene sperm motility, offering a safe molecular target for innovative pesticides and genetic pest control.
