Dual pharmacological targeting of coactivator‐associated arginine methyltransferase 1 (CARM1) and salt inducible kinase (SIK) drives ketogenesis in both hepatocytes and mice

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Abstract Background and Purpose Ketone bodies are liver‐derived circulating energy metabolites that positively impact most hallmarks of ageing. Ketone bodies increase during calorie restriction and fasting, two of the more widely perceived methods to increase health span.

Capsaicin-szenzitív neurogén mechanizmusok a meningeális nocicepcióban és a dura mater vaszkuláris reakcióinak modulációjában = Role of capsaicin-sensitive neurogenic mechanisms in meningeal nociception and in the modulation of vascular reactions of the dura mater [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Kísérleteink során morfológiai és funkcionális módszerekkel igazoltuk a trigemino-vaszkuláris capsaicin szenzitív CGRP-immunreaktív nociceptív afferens idegek jelenlétét patkány kemény agyhártyájában.

Cone beam computed tomographic myelography in horses with cervical vertebral compressive myelopathy

open access: yesEquine Veterinary Journal, EarlyView.
Abstract Background While computed tomographic (CT) myelography is increasingly available and has been evaluated in alive horses, objective criteria for diagnosing cervical vertebral compressive myelopathy (CVCM) are lacking. Objectives To establish morphometric dimensions of the cervical vertebral canal and spinal cords from horses with CVCM and ...

Mechanical properties of cervical dura mater.

open access: yesActa of bioengineering and biomechanics, 2012
The aim of the study was to determine experimentally the stress as strain function as well as the orthotropy and heterogeneity of porcine dura mater of the cervical spinal cord. Material was divided into groups based on the place of collection, considering the dorsal side and ventral side, specifying the number of cervical vertebra, and the direction ...

Anatomy of spinal CSF loss in the American alligator (Alligator mississippiensis)

open access: yesJournal of Anatomy, Volume 246, Issue 4, Page 575-584, April 2025.
India ink introduced into the cranial cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) compartment of Alligator diffuses along the spinal cord and exits the spinal compartment using perineural flow, resulting in a prominent “ink cuff” forming at the base of the spinal nerve. In Alligator, the region of the ink cuff is drained by a small lymphatic vessel.

Virtual brain endocasts of the palaeanodont Metacheiromys marshi and the neurosensory evolution of early Pholidotamorpha

open access: yesJournal of Anatomy, EarlyView.
We describe the endocranial anatomy of Metacheiromys marshi. Decrease in olfaction and eye movement control occurred through time in Pholidotamorpha and is likely linked to fossorial adaptations. The development of the orbital gyrus might be related to the evolution of myrmecophagy and the emergence of a protrusile tongue in early Pholidotamorpha ...

Ageing‐related modification of sleep and breathing in orexin‐knockout narcoleptic mice

open access: yesJournal of Sleep Research, Volume 34, Issue 2, April 2025.
Summary Narcolepsy type‐1 (NT1) is a lifelong sleep disease, characterised by impairment of the orexinergic system, with a typical onset during adolescence and young adulthood. Since the wake–sleep cycle physiologically changes with ageing, this study aims to compare sleep patterns between orexin‐knockout (KO) and wild type (WT) control mice at ...

Characterisation of sleep apneas and respiratory circuitry in mice lacking CDKL5

open access: yesJournal of Sleep Research, Volume 34, Issue 2, April 2025.
Summary CDKL5 deficiency disorder is a rare genetic disease caused by mutations in the CDKL5 gene. Central apneas during wakefulness have been reported in patients with CDKL5 deficiency disorder. Studies on CDKL5‐knockout mice, a CDKL5 deficiency disorder model, reported sleep apneas, but it is still unclear whether these events are central (central ...

Retrospective review of spinal magnetic resonance images to determine the margin of safety for epidural analgesia in pediatric patients

open access: yesBrazilian Journal of Anesthesiology
Background: Deeply sedated children cannot provide feedback if an epidural needle traumatizes the Spinal Cord (SC). Knowing relevant structure depths may, therefore, improve safety.
