Cu‐Based MOF/TiO2 Composite Nanomaterials for Photocatalytic Hydrogen Generation and the Role of Copper

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
HKUST‐1/TiO2 composite materials show a very high photocatalytic hydrogen evolution rate which increases as a function of the irradiation time until reaching a plateau and even surpasses the performance of the 1%Pt/TiO2 material after three photocatalytic cycles.

Hole Transfer Dynamics in Thin Films of Mixed‐Dimensional Quasi‐2D Perovskites

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Charge transfer dynamics in quasi‐2D perovskite (PEA2MAn−1PbnI3n+1), grown with a distinct dimensionality gradient are investigated. Selective excitation of the n = 4 phase reveals efficient hole transfer to n = 2 and n = 3 within tens of picoseconds, while n = 1 acts as a hole‐blocking layer. These findings highlight the importance of minimizing n = 1

Incentive to reduce crop trait durability [PDF]

open access: yes
Inbred line seed producers face competition from their own consumers: farmers who save part of their harvest can costly self-produce. To reduce this competition, seed producers can switch to non-durable hybrid seed production.

Atomic Size Misfit for Electrocatalytic Small Molecule Activation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This review explores the application and mechanisms of atomic size misfit in catalysis for small molecule activation, focusing on how structural defects and electronic properties can effectively lower the energy barriers of chemical bonds in molecules like H2O, CO2, and N2.

Simulation of the synergistic low Earth orbit effects of vacuum thermal cycling, vacuum UV radiation, and atomic oxygen [PDF]

open access: yes
In order to assess the low Earth orbit (LEO) durability of candidate space materials, it is necessary to use ground laboratory facilities which provide LEO environmental effects.
