This paper develops a barometer that indexes water quality in the Chesapeake Bay and summarizes quality over spatial regions and temporal periods. The barometer has a basis in risk assessment and hydrology, and is a function of three different metrics of

Intraphagosomal Measurement of the Magnitude and Duration of the Oxidative Burst [PDF]
Generation of an oxidative burst within the phagosomes of neutrophils, dendritic cells and macrophages is an essential component of the innate immune system. To examine the kinetics of the oxidative burst in the macrophage phagosome, we developed two new assays using beads coated with oxidation‐sensitive fluorochromes.

Numerical Magnitude Affects Accuracy but Not Precision of Temporal Judgments
A Theory of Magnitude (ATOM) suggests that space, time, and quantities are processed through a generalized magnitude system. ATOM posits that task-irrelevant magnitudes interfere with the processing of task-relevant magnitudes as all the magnitudes are ...

El Ninos: Their magnitudes and durations
Between 1900 and 2022, there have been 35 El Nino warming events recorded. An examination of the temperature rise caused by those events has shown that they occurred within the range of 0.029 – 0.54 Deg. C, with those of longer duration generally having the higher temperatures. Their median maximum temperature value was 0.29 Deg.

Relativistic compression and expansion of experiential time in the left and right space. [PDF]
Time, space and numbers are closely linked in the physical world. However, the relativistic-like effects on time perception of spatial and magnitude factors remain poorly investigated.

Number-time interaction: Search for a common magnitude system in a cross-modal setting
A theory of magnitude (ATOM) suggests that a generalized magnitude system in the brain processes magnitudes such as space, time, and numbers. Numerous behavioral and neurocognitive studies have provided support to ATOM theory.

Duration Magnitude Scale for Anbar Seismic Station (ANB1), Iraq [PDF]
Measuring an earthquake's magnitude is a routine task at all seismological observatories. The current study aims to derive the earthquake duration magnitude scale for Anbar seismic station (ANB1), which is one of the stations of the Mesopotamian ...

A new MD-ML relationship for Mt. Etna earthquakes (Italy)
A homogenous database of magnitude observations is a basic requirement for seismic hazard estimation and other seismic studies. Unfortunately, the magnitude reported in the seismic catalogue of Mt. Etna is not homogenous.

Analysis of Severity, Duration, Frequency and Zoning Map of Meteorological Drought of Bakhtegan River Basin [PDF]
Drought is the most important and most destructive climatic phenomena that impact is usually more important at a regional scale. This is important because the basin as Bakhtegan strategic situation of the region, the extent of farming lands and Bakhtegan
