Design Approaches for Oxygen Reduction Systems for Warehouse Storage Applications
ABSTRACT Oxygen reduction systems (ORS) are protection systems, with a design protection objective to limit fire spread beyond the point of ignition. Research has shown that the prescriptive design methods, in VdS 3527, EN 16750, and ISO 20338, are not appropriate as prescriptive design methods as they result in insufficient protection levels.

The Flattest Infrared Extinction Curve in Four Isolated Dense Molecular Cloud Cores
The extinction curve of interstellar dust in the dense molecular cloud cores is crucial for understanding dust properties, particularly size distribution and composition.

Abstract When I was 12, my family told me a story about their community falling apart and coming together, a time when someone tried putting a nuclear facility in their (our?) hometown. Since we moved when I was too young to remember, the story had little significance until I embarked on a “hometown” ethnographic journey for my dissertation.

On the degree of dust extinction in major mergers
We numerically investigate how fundamental properties of the spectral energy distribution (SED) of a major gas-rich galaxy merger with dusty starburst are determined by the initial orbital configuration of the merger. We found that an infrared luminous galaxy with dusty starburst formed by a nearly retrograde-retrograde merger suffers the most ...

Methodological guidelines for the characterization of polysaccharide helical structures
Abstract Polysaccharide chain conformation is a critical determinant of their physicochemical and biological properties; however, reliable identification remains a significant challenge due to the inconsistent structural evidence yielded by conventional analytical techniques.

Modeling of Interstellar Dust Grains
Dust has two major effects on light passing through the Interstellar Medium - Interstellar Extinction and Reddening. Interstellar dust grains are typically a fraction of a micron, approximately the wavelength of blue light and hence light passing ...

Chemical states of Se and Br atoms in the KPg boundary sediments from Stevns Klint were studied using XAFS spectroscopy. The high concentrations of Se4+ could become an index of the degree to which the global environment was soiled with dust and ash derived from impact ejecta or volcanic eruptions.

A global comparison of GEOS-Chem predicted and remotely-sensed mineral dust aerosol optical depth
Dust aerosol optical depth (AOD) and vertical distribution of aerosol extinction predicted by a global chemical transport model (GEOS-Chem) are compared to space-borne data from the Moderate-resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS), Multi-Angle ...

In this study, we re‐examine the depositional architecture of the Erfoud limestone in Morocco. Introducing new biostratigraphic constraints from chitinozoan assemblages, we show that Katian to Hirnantian bryozoan‐pelmatozoan meadows reflect flooding events linked to a series of interglacial transgressions known to have occurred immediately prior to the

ABSTRACT Amphibians are among the most threatened taxonomic groups, with many species experiencing rapid declines that have resulted in small, isolated populations vulnerable to inbreeding depression and reduced fertility. One major outcome of inbreeding is lowered fecundity, often linked to morphological changes in gametes.
