Efficiency of Metal Mixing in Dwarf Galaxies [PDF]

open access: yesUnderstanding the Enrichment of Heavy Elements by the Chemodynamical Evolution Models of Dwarf Galaxies, 2017
Metal mixing plays a critical role in the enrichment of metals in galaxies. The abundance of elements such as Mg, Fe, and Ba in metal-poor stars helps us understand the metal mixing in galaxies.

Pricing dynamics and herding behaviour of NFTs

open access: yesEuropean Financial Management, Volume 31, Issue 2, Page 670-710, March 2025.
Abstract This paper analyzes the sales of 875,389 art nonfungible tokens (NFTs) on the Ethereum blockchain to identify the key determinants influencing NFT pricing and market dynamics. We find that market liquidity and trade volume are strong predictors of NFT prices. Contrarily, social media activity negatively correlates with prices.

Searching for nearby diffuse dwarf galaxies in the COSMOS field

open access: yesFrontiers in Astronomy and Space Sciences
It remains challenging to systematically survey nearby diffuse dwarf galaxies and address the formation mechanism of this population distinguishing from regular ones.

The HERBAL Model: A Hierarchical Errors-in-variables Bayesian Lognormal Hurdle Model for Galactic Globular Cluster Populations

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 2023
Galaxy stellar mass is known to be monotonically related to the size of the galaxy’s globular cluster (GC) population for Milky Way sized and larger galaxies.

Active Dwarf Galaxies as Circumnuclear Regions of LSB-galaxies [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2006
Some arguments are brought that often active dwarf galaxies are the circumnuclear regions of LSB-galaxies in fact, rather than an ordinary galaxies.

Token‐based reviewer economies: Proposed institutions for managing the reviewer shortage problem

open access: yesInformation Systems Journal, Volume 35, Issue 2, Page 761-806, March 2025.
Abstract This opinion paper presents two proposed token‐based systems to fix the information system academy's review system. At present, the review system consumes more human resources than the information systems academy has by an order of magnitude. The cost of this overflow is borne entirely by information systems researchers.

Morphological transformations of Dwarf Galaxies in the Local Group [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
In the Local Group there are three main types of dwarf galaxies: Dwarf Irregulars, Dwarf Spheroidals, and Dwarf Ellipticals. Intermediate/transitional types are present as well. This contribution reviews the idea that the present day variety of dwarf galaxy morphologies in the Local Group might reveal the existence of a transformation chain of events ...

Missing dark matter in dwarf galaxies [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
We use cosmological hydrodynamical simulations of the APOSTLE project to examine the fraction of baryons in CDM haloes that collect into galaxies. This ‘galaxy formation efficiency’ correlates strongly and with little scatter with halo mass, dropping ...

Revisiting the History of Ornamental Aquaculture in Europe to Understand the Benefits and Drawbacks of Freshwater Fish Imports

open access: yesReviews in Aquaculture, Volume 17, Issue 2, March 2025.
ABSTRACT Ornamental aquaculture and fishkeeping are very popular with millions of enthusiasts worldwide. The number of newly imported fish species for ornamental purposes grew slowly from World War I until the 1980s. It then exponentially increased until now with more than 7900 species and a large number of scientifically undescribed morphotypes.

The G-dwarf problem in the Galaxy [PDF]

open access: yesNew Astronomy, 2008
The empirical differential metallicity distribution (EDMD) is deduced for (i) local thick disk stars; (ii) likely metal-weak thick disk stars; (iii) chemically selected local G dwarfs, with the corrections performed in order to take into account the stellar scale height; in addition to previous results related to (iv) solar neighbourhood halo subdwarfs;
