Giant Halos in Dwarf Irregular Galaxies vs. Dwarf Elliptical Galaxies [PDF]
We present a discovery of a giant stellar halo in NGC 6822, a dwarf irregular galaxy in the Local Group. This halo is mostly made of old red giants, showing striking features: 1) it is several times larger than the main body of the galaxy seen in the ...

Sagittarius: The Nearest Dwarf Galaxy [PDF]
We have discovered a new Galactic satellite galaxy in the constellation of Sagittarius. The Sagittarius dwarf galaxy is the nearest galaxy known, subtends an angle of $> 10$ degrees on the sky, lies at a distance of $24 \kpc$ from the Sun, $\sim 16 \kpc$

Star forming dwarf galaxies [PDF]
Star forming dwarf galaxies (SFDGs) have a high gas content and low metallicities, reminiscent of the basic entities in hierarchical galaxy formation scenarios.

Proton Acceleration with Relativistic Electromagnetic Shock. [PDF]
New Ion Acceleration Mechanism! A novel cosmic‐ray proton acceleration mechanism is proposed, where relativistic electromagnetic shocks accelerate protons transversely. Hamiltonian analysis yields a scaling law linking the proton energy to the minimum longitudinal thickness of the shock.

Constraining Primordial Black Holes with Dwarf Galaxy Heating [PDF]
Black holes formed in the early universe, prior to the formation of stars, can exist as dark matter and also contribute to the black hole merger events observed in gravitational waves.

We review the observational evidences for tidal dwarf galaxies, a class of small galaxies formed out of the tidal debris of collisions between massive galaxies. Tidal dwarfs are found far from the interacting parent galaxies, associated with massive clouds of atomic hydrogen located at the tip of long tidal tails.

The Pristine dwarf galaxy survey–V. The edges of the dwarf galaxy Hercules
ABSTRACT We present a new spectroscopic study of 175 stars in the vicinity of the dwarf galaxy Hercules (d ∼ 132 kpc) with data from the Anglo-Australian Telescope and its AAOmega spectrograph together with the Two Degree Field multi-object system to solve the conundrum that whether Hercules is tidally disrupting.

The Local Group on FIRE: dwarf galaxy populations across a suite of hydrodynamic simulations [PDF]
We present a new set of high-resolution hydrodynamic cosmological zoom-in simulations that apply the Feedback In Realistic Environments physics to both Local Group (LG)-like and isolated Milky Way (MW)-like volumes (10 host systems in total with a ...

The Herschel Dwarf Galaxy Survey [PDF]
The sensitive infrared telescopes, Spitzer and Herschel, have been used to target low-metallicity star-forming galaxies, allowing us to investigate the properties of their interstellar medium (ISM) in unprecedented detail.
