Dwarfs in Void Environments (DIVE): The Stellar Kinematics of Void Dwarf Galaxies Using the Keck Cosmic Web Imager

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 2023
Dwarf galaxies located in extremely underdense cosmic voids are excellent test beds for disentangling the effects of large-scale environments on galaxy formation and evolution. We present the first results of the Dwarfs in Void Environments Survey, which

Ultradiffuse galaxies: the high-spin tail of the abundant dwarf galaxy population [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Recent observations have revealed the existence of an abundant population of faint, low surface brightness (SB) galaxies, which appear to be numerous and ubiquitous in nearby galaxy clusters, including the Virgo, Coma and Fornax clusters.

At the survey limits: discovery of the Aquarius 2 dwarf galaxy in the VST ATLAS and the SDSS data [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
We announce the discovery of the Aquarius 2 dwarf galaxy, a new distant satellite of the Milky Way, detected on the fringes of the VLT Survey Telescope (VST) ATLAS and the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS) surveys.

Direct evidence of hierarchical assembly at low masses from isolated dwarf galaxy groups [PDF]

open access: yesNature Astronomy, 2017
The demographics of dwarf galaxy populations have long been in tension with predictions from the Λ cold dark matter (ΛCDM) paradigm1–4. If primordial density fluctuations were scale-free as predicted, dwarf galaxies should themselves host dark-matter ...

Metallic Winds in Dwarf Galaxies [PDF]

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 2017
Abstract We present results from models of galactic winds driven by energy injected from nuclear (at the galactic center) and non-nuclear starbursts. The total energy of the starburst is provided by very massive young stellar clusters, which can push the galactic interstellar medium and produce an important outflow. Such outflow can be a

On the dynamics of the Sagittarius dwarf galaxy [PDF]

open access: yesMonthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society, 1995
We use numerical simulations to test the feasibility of the suggestion by Ibata et al. (1994) that the excess population of stars which they discovered in the Sagittarius region may be the disrupted remains of a dwarf spheroidal galaxy. We find that a Fornax-like model for the pre-disruption system can indeed reproduce the data.

The M 101 group complex: new dwarf galaxy candidates and spatial structure [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Context. The fine details of the large-scale structure in the local Universe provide important empirical benchmarks for testing cosmological models of structure formation. Dwarf galaxies are key object for such studies. Aims.

UGC 7639: A Dwarf Galaxy in the Canes Venatici I Cloud

open access: yesAdvances in Astronomy, 2015
We want to get insight into the formation mechanism and the evolution of UGC 7639, a dwarf galaxy in the Canes Venatici I Cloud (CVnIC). We used archival multiwavelength data to constrain its global properties. Ultraviolet images show that UGC 7639 inner
