Many nocturnal animals are difficult to study because they are rarely seen, including nocturnal primates, galagos and pottos, in West Africa. Working with over 600 people in 52 villages in southern Guinea‐Bissau, we found that communities frequently recognized galagos by their red eyeshine and distinctive calls, while pottos were not known.

The Early Palomar Program (1950-1955) for the Discovery of Classical Novae in M81: Analysis of the Spatial Distribution, Magnitude Distribution, and Distance Suggestion [PDF]
Data obtained in the 1950-1955 Palomar campaign for the discovery of classical novae in M81 are set out in detail. Positions and apparent B magnitudes are listed for the 23 novae that were found.

X-ray variations in the inner accretion flow of Dwarf Novae [PDF]
We show for five DN systems, SS Cyg, VW Hyi, RU Peg, WW Cet and T Leo that the UV and X-ray power spectra of their time variable light curves are similar in quiescence.

Abstract This autoethnographic study lies at the intersection of architectural, teaching and research practice through the lens of an architect‐teacher‐researcher working in post‐Apartheid South Africa. The research traces a shift from unconscious design practice to a more conscious, critical and careful practice through practice‐based design research ...

BEACONS IN THE DARK: USING NOVAE AND SUPERNOVAE TO DETECT DWARF GALAXIES IN THE LOCAL UNIVERSE [PDF]
We propose that luminous transients, including novae and supernovae (SNe), can be used to detect the faintest galaxies in the universe. Beyond a few megaparsecs, dwarf galaxies with stellar masses ≲ 10 6 M ⊙ ?> will likely be too faint and/or too low in ...

ABSTRACT Objectives The Interim Canada Dental Benefit (CDB) provided financial support for the dental needs of children < 12 years old, from low‐income families in Canada. Funds were distributed during two periods, Regular Period 1 (October 2022 through June 2023) and the Regular Period 2 (July 2023 through June 2024). This study evaluated the adjusted

Followup Observations of SDSS and CRTS Candidate Cataclysmic Variables II
Spectra of 38 candidate or known cataclysmic variables are presented. Most are candidate dwarf novae or systems containing possible highly magnetic white dwarfs, while a few (KR Aur, LS Peg, V380 Oph and V694 Mon) are previously known objects caught in ...
