An Eccentric Brown Dwarf Eclipsing an M dwarf

open access: yesThe Astronomical Journal, 2022
Abstract We report the discovery of an M = 67 ± 2M J brown dwarf transiting the early M dwarf TOI-2119 on an eccentric orbit (e = 0.3362 ± 0.0005) at an orbital period of 7.200861 ± 0.000005 days. We confirm the brown dwarf nature of the transiting companion using a combination of ground-based and space-based photometry

Total Flavonoid Contents and the Expression of Flavonoid Biosynthetic Genes in Breadfruit (Artocarpus altilis) Scions Growing on Lakoocha (Artocarpus lakoocha) Rootstocks

open access: yesPlants, 2023
Breadfruit (Artocarpus altilis) is a traditional fruit tree of 15–30 m height in the tropics. The presence of size-controlling rootstock in the species is not known.

An evaluation of genotyping by sequencing (GBS) to map the Breviaristatum-e (ari-e) locus in cultivated barley [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
We explored the use of genotyping by sequencing (GBS) on a recombinant inbred line population (GPMx) derived from a cross between the two-rowed barley cultivar 'Golden Promise' (ari-e.GP/Vrs1) and the six-rowed cultivar 'Morex' (Ari-e/vrs1) to map plant ...

Dwarfing Effect of Plant Growth Retarders on Melaleuca alternifolia

open access: yes, 2023
Rapid growth and scattered plant types are urgent issues for potted Melaleuca alternifolia. An effective strategy for dwarfing cultivation is the exogenous application of plant growth regulators (PGRs) to plants. However, for many non-wood forest species,

Brown Dwarf Companions to White Dwarfs [PDF]

open access: yesAIP Conference Proceedings, 2011
Brown dwarf companions to white dwarfs are rare, but recent infra-red surveys are slowly reveal- ing examples. We present new observations of the post-common envelope binary WD0137-349, which reveals the effects of irradiation on the ~ 0.05M* secondary, and new observations of GD 1400 which show that it too is a close, post-comon envelope system.

Modeling Brown Dwarfs, L Dwarfs, and T Dwarfs [PDF]

open access: yesSymposium - International Astronomical Union, 2003
In this contribution, I review a subset of our recent efforts in spectral and opacity modeling aimed at guiding the study of brown dwarfs, L dwarfs, and T dwarfs. I discuss theoretical calculations of the alkali line profiles, newly generated CrH opacities, new evidence for refractory rainout in T dwarfs from optical spectral measurements, and the ...

Characterisation of Breadfruit (Artocarpus altilis) Plants Growing on Lakoocha (A. lakoocha) Rootstocks

open access: yesHorticulturae, 2022
Breadfruit (Artocarpus altilis) is a traditional fruit tree of 15–30 m tall in Oceania. The species is a staple crop for food security in the tropics. Tree loss from tropical windstorms, together with transition toward high-density planting has driven an

SATELLITE DWARF GALAXIES IN A HIERARCHICAL UNIVERSE: THE PREVALENCE OF DWARF-DWARF MAJOR MERGERS [PDF]

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 2014
Mergers are a common phenomenon in hierarchical structure formation, especially for massive galaxies and clusters, but their importance for dwarf galaxies in the Local Group remains poorly understood. We investigate the frequency of major mergers between dwarf galaxies in the Local Group using the ELVIS suite of cosmological zoom-in dissipationless ...

Effects of dense planting pattern on the growth of apple tree in Weibei dry plateau

open access: yes浙江大学学报. 农业与生命科学版, 2019
In order to improve the economic benefits of the apple orchard in Weibei dry plateau, taking the apple orchard with vigorous stock dense planting at the full bearing age as a control, the bearing fruit number of dwarfing stock dense planting and semi ...

Expression of ZjPSY, a Phytoene Synthase Gene from Zoysia japonica Affects Plant Height and Photosynthetic Pigment Contents

open access: yesPlants, 2022
Phytoene synthase (PSY) is a key limiting enzyme in the carotenoid biosynthesis pathway for regulating phytoene synthesis. In this study, ZjPSY was isolated and identified from Zoysia japonica, an important lawn grass species.
