Extraction and Characterization of Pepsin- and Acid-Soluble Collagen from the Swim Bladders of Megalonibea fusca

open access: yesMarine Drugs, 2023
There is a growing demand for the identification of alternative sources of collagen not derived from land-dwelling animals. The present study explored the use of pepsin- and acid-based extraction protocols to isolate collagen from the swim bladders of ...

DNA extraction from insect gut-dwelling fungi v1

open access: yes, 2022
This protocol is good for DNA extraction from microbial fungi isolated from aquatic insect guts. It works for small input tissues (starting from one fungal thallus). The product can be used for PCR and Sanger sequencing directly, which is ideal for fungal barcode analyses.

Behaviour change techniques that constitute effective planning interventions to improve physical activity and diet behaviour for people with chronic conditions: a systematic review

open access: yesBMJ Open, 2022
Objectives Action planning is a brief and effective behaviour change technique (BCT) to improve physical activity (PA) and diet behaviour (DB). This study aimed to identify critical BCTs and mechanisms of action (MoAs) to interpret the effectiveness of ...

Time Toxicity in Wilms Tumor: Quantifying the Burden of Healthcare Interaction in the First Year After Diagnosis

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Wilms tumor (WT) treatment imposes a significant time burden on patients and their families. Time toxicity is a patient‐centered metric that quantifies the burden of healthcare interaction. We sought to define time toxicity in the first year after diagnosis of WT and hypothesized that it would increase as tumor stage and treatment ...

Les insectes du quartier portuaire romain de Saint-Lupien à Rezé/Ratiatum (Loire-Atlantique) : premiers résultats de l’étude archéoentomologique

open access: yesGallia, 2020
The sediments bordering the quays of the Roman port district of Rezé/Ratiatum (Loire-Atlantique) proved to be favourable for an archaeo-entomological analysis. After extraction, the insect fragments provide information that complements the archaeological

A Bibliometric Analysis of Publications in Uremic Toxins From 1991 to 2024

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Uremic toxins are a growing area of research in nephrology, with significant implications in the progression and treatment of chronic kidney disease (CKD) and the management of end‐stage kidney disease (ESKD). This bibliometric analysis aims to evaluate the global research trends, key contributors, and the impact of publications in ...

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Zone-wise occupancy schedules developed using Time Use Survey data for building energy performance simulations

open access: yesData in Brief, 2023
The occupancy profile dataset presented in this study leverages publicly available UK Time Use Survey (TUS) 2014–15 data to evaluate the impact of occupancy on energy consumption at various spatial and temporal scales using multi-scale archetypes ...

The human gut microbiome across the life course

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Despite significant individual variation and continuous change throughout life, the human gut microbiome follows some life stage‐specific trends. This article provides a brief overview of how gut microbiome composition shifts across different phases of life. Created in BioRender. Özkurt, E. (2026) https://BioRender.com/8q4nrnc.
