Melanin's Role in Balancing Mechanical Strength and Reproductive Output in Environmentally Stressed Fungal Spores

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Melanin content directly controls fungal spore mechanical properties, with pigmented spores achieving rupture forces two orders of magnitude higher than hyaline spores. Environmental stress drives this quantity‐quality tradeoff; stressed species invest energy in melanin‐reinforced, mechanically superior thick‐walled, super‐hydrophobic spores, while ...

Comparative Evaluation of Coronal Microleakage in Class-I Cavities Restored with Five Different Direct Composite Resins: An In vitro Confocal Laser Scanning Microscope Study

open access: yesAdvances in Human Biology
Introduction: Microleakage is the passage of bacteria, fluids and ions between a dental filling and the tooth’s cavity walls. It is a key measure of a restorative material’s success and longevity.

ATP‐Mediated Bidirectional Communication Between Natural and Artificial Cells for Controlled Bioreactions

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Establishment of bidirectional communication behavior between natural and artificial cells. The first type of communication from natural dendritic cells to artificial polymeric cells was achieved via ATP release after cell lysis. The released ATP was taken up via gated UV‐controlled permeability increase of the polymeric membrane for performing ...

Coronal microleakage with five different temporary restorative materials following walking bleach technique: An ex-vivo study

open access: yesContemporary Clinical Dentistry, 2012
Context: Walking bleach technique uses 30% hydrogen peroxide and sodium perborate, and this paste mixture causes loosening of the coronal temporary restorative materials and thus decreasing its clinical effectiveness and causing irritation to the ...

Upcycling Keratin‐Based Textile Waste Into High‐Performance Hybrid Fibers Via Tuning the Interfacial Interactions

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Keratin recovered from animal‐hair textile waste is fractionated and blended with cellulose to produce continuously spun hybrid fibers. Selecting the high‐molecular‐weight keratin fraction enables 30 wt.% keratin incorporation while maintaining high strength in dry and wet states.

Effect of Intracanal Glass-Ionomer Barrier Thickness on Microleakage in Coronal Part of Root in Endodontically Treated Teeth: an In Vitro Study

open access: yesJournal of Dentistry, 2020
Statement of the Problem: The most common cause of endodontic treatment failures is improper coronal sealing. Therefore, besides to proper root sealing, coronal sealing which is supported by a proper restoration has a major role in endodontic treatment ...

Fiber‐Based Wearable Electronics as Adaptive Biointerfaces for Healthcare Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Fiber‐based wearable electronics have been extensively studied as adaptive healthcare biointerfaces. In this review, we classify and introduce fiber‐based systems according to biointerface design, conductive materials, transduction mechanisms, and healthcare applications, and provide a perspective on their translation toward reliable, continuous ...
