Clinical performance of the urine‐based TERT promoter AbsoluteQ Digital PCR for non‐invasive detection of bladder cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
A urine‐based digital PCR assay targeting two hotspot TERT promoter variants detected bladder cancer with high sensitivity and no false positives in this case–control cohort. The streamlined AbsoluteQ workflow outperformed Sanger sequencing and supports non‐invasive molecular testing for bladder cancer detection.

Predicting signatures of anisotropic resonance energy transfer in dye-functionalized nanoparticles

open access: yes, 2016
Resonance energy transfer (RET) is an inherently anisotropic process. Even the simplest, well-known F\"orster theory, based on the transition dipole-dipole coupling, implicitly incorporates the anisotropic character of RET.

Utilization dyeing process of coffea pigment as superhydrophobic coating on fabric application [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Synthetic pigments and dyes was frequently used for textile products in order to fulfill the customers demand because it is less expensive and high durability compared to natural pigments or dyes. Therefore, the contribution of synthetic dyes waste water

An investigation of the roles furan versus thiophene π-bridges play in donor–π-acceptor porphyrin based DSSCs [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) continue to attract interest due to their lower cost production compared to silicon based solar cells and their improving power conversion efficiencies. Porphyrin-based sensitizers have become an important sub-class due

The cooperative regulation of miR‐221 by APE1 and AUF1 impacts p27Kip1 defining a miR signature relevant for cervical cancer

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
A regulatory axis involving APE1, AUF1, and miR‐221 is proposed. Pri‐miR‐221 is processed by DROSHA and DICER to generate mature miR‐221, which targets p27Kip1 mRNA. APE1 and AUF1 compete for pre‐miR‐221 binding. Reduced APE1/AUF1 levels impair miR‐221 biogenesis, decrease p27Kip1 mRNA degradation, and promote cell cycle progression, chemoresistance ...

An investigation of the role the donor moiety plays in modulating the efficiency of ‘donor-π-acceptor-π-acceptor’ organic DSSCs [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Three ‘D-π-A-π-A’ based dyes have been synthesized featuring MeO-, MeS- and Me2N- as donor residues and benzothiadiazole and cyanoacrylic acid residues as acceptor units. UV–vis spectroscopy, solution electrochemistry and DFT modelling indicated that the

Anchorage‐independent and faster growth in clonal population from UV‐irradiated NER‐deficient cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
UV‐irradiated cells expressing a DDB2 mutant protein unable to interact with PCNA (DDB2PCNA‐) form clones able to grow without anchorage. Different experimental approaches reveal heterogeneity in cell cycle regulation and drug response within these clones, emphasizing the crucial role of the DDB2‐PCNA interaction in preventing cellular transformation ...

Design Principles for Two-Dimensional Molecular Aggregates Using Kasha's Model: Tunable Photophysics in Near and Short-Wave Infrared [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Technologies which utilize near-infrared (700 – 1000 nm) and short-wave infrared (1000 – 2000 nm) electromagnetic radiation have applications in deep-tissue imaging, telecommunications and satellite telemetry due to low scattering and decreased ...

A light‐triggered Time‐Resolved X‐ray Solution Scattering (TR‐XSS) workflow with application to protein conformational dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Time‐resolved X‐ray solution scattering captures how proteins change shape in real time under near‐native conditions. This article presents a practical workflow for light‐triggered TR‐XSS experiments, from data collection to structural refinement. Using a calcium‐transporting membrane protein as an example, the approach can be broadly applied to study ...

Amphoteric Soy Protein-Rich Fibers for Rapid and Selective Adsorption and Desorption of Ionic Dyes. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Uniquely amphoteric soy protein (SP)-rich ultra-fine fibers (231 nm average diameter) have been facilely electrospun from aq. colloids and rendered water-insoluble by heating (150 °C, 12 h) to be highly stable over 14 d (pH 7) as well as under extremely ...
