Analysis of pogo on the space shuttle: Accumulator design guidelines and planar multiengine model development [PDF]

open access: yes
The design guidelines were generated to support the selection of the baseline accumulator configuration for the space shuttle. They were based upon the elimination of the instabilities that had been predicted for the shuttle system (in the absence of ...

The Legacy of the Tevatron in the Area of Accelerator Science

open access: yes, 2013
For more than 25 years the Tevatron was the highest energy accelerator in the world, providing the first access to particle collisions beyond 1 TeV and achieving an ultimate performance a factor of four hundred beyond the original design goals.

Potassium accumulation as dynamic modulator of neurohypophysial excitability

open access: yesNeuroscience, 2010
Activity-dependent modulation of excitable responses from neurohypophysial axons and their secretory swellings has long been recognized as an important regulator of arginine vasopressin and oxytocin release during patterned stimulation. Various activity-dependent mechanisms, including action potential broadening, potassium accumulation, and autocrine ...

Cell surface interactome analysis identifies TSPAN4 as a negative regulator of PD‐L1 in melanoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Using cell surface proximity biotinylation, we identified tetraspanin TSPAN4 within the PD‐L1 interactome of melanoma cells. TSPAN4 negatively regulates PD‐L1 expression and lateral mobility by limiting its interaction with CMTM6 and promoting PD‐L1 degradation.

Design approach for a microprocessor-based GPS time transfer receiver [PDF]

open access: yes, 1982
The design concept and characteristics of a self-contained microprocessor-based Global Positioning System time transfer receiver is described. A prototype of this unit is currently in the test phase. It employs two-bit digital baseband correlation rather

FPGA implementation of a 32x32 autocorrelator array for analysis of fast image series

open access: yes, 2011
With the evolving technology in CMOS integration, new classes of 2D-imaging detectors have recently become available. In particular, single photon avalanche diode (SPAD) arrays allow detection of single photons at high acquisition rates (\geq 100 kfps ...

The effects of mergers with dynamic capacity accumulation [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Industrial Organization, 2009
Abstract The U.S. antitrust law enforcement agencies often base their assessment of mergers on a model with asymmetric costs. However, in many near-homogeneous product industries there is evidence that cost differences are minor and capacity differences seem a more reasonable explanation of firm heterogeneity.

PARP inhibition and pharmacological ascorbate demonstrate synergy in castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pharmacologic ascorbate (vitamin C) increases ROS, disrupts cellular metabolism, and induces DNA damage in CRPC cells. These effects sensitize tumors to PARP inhibition, producing synergistic growth suppression with olaparib in vitro and significantly delayed tumor progression in vivo. Pyruvate rescue confirms ROS‐dependent activity.

Dynamics of Lamin-A Processing Following Precursor Accumulation

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2010
Lamin A (LaA) is a component of the nuclear lamina, an intermediate filament meshwork that underlies the inner nuclear membrane (INM) of the nuclear envelope (NE). Newly synthesized prelamin A (PreA) undergoes extensive processing involving C-terminal farnesylation followed by proteolysis yielding non-farnesylated mature lamin A.
