Effects of balance evaluation comparison of dynamic balance and Y balance [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Exercise Rehabilitation, 2018
This study measured balance ability using both an existing clinical test tool, the Y-balance test (YBT), and an automated version of the YBT named the dynamic balance test (DBT) developed in this study. Correlations between the two methods were examined to determine whether the DBT can be used as an objective tool for balance ability evaluation.

Walking With Horizontal Head Turns Is Impaired in Persons With Early-Stage Multiple Sclerosis Showing Normal Locomotion

open access: yesFrontiers in Neurology, 2022
BackgroundTurning the head while walking (an action often required during daily living) is particularly challenging to maintain balance. It can therefore potentially reveal subtle impairments in early-stage people with multiple sclerosis who still show ...

Balanced dynamics in the Tropics

open access: yesQuarterly Journal of the Royal Meteorological Society, 2010
AbstractFor the shallow‐water equations on an equatorial beta plane, the properties of low‐frequency Rossby waves and (mixed) Rossby–gravity waves are investigated. It is shown that in the low‐frequency limit the horizontal divergence of these solutions is zero and their geopotential satisfies φ = fψ, where f = βy is the Coriolis parameter and ψ is the

The effectiveness of functional training on static balance, dynamic balance and flexibility of females with intellectual disability

open access: yesBaltic Journal of Health and Physical Activity, 2021
Background: Children with intellectual disability (ID) have less balance and flexibility than typically developing peers. The aim of this study was to determine the effectiveness of functional training on static balance, dynamic balance and flexibility ...

The Importance of Being in Touch

open access: yesFrontiers in Neurology, 2021
This paper describes a series of studies resulting from the finding that when free floating in weightless conditions with eyes closed, all sense of one's spatial orientation with respect to the aircraft can be lost.

Assessment of thermal instabilities and oscillations in multifinger heterojunction bipolar transistors through a harmonic-balance-based CAD-oriented dynamic stability analysis technique [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
We present a novel analysis of thermal instabilities and oscillations in multifinger heterojunction bipolar transistors (HBTs), based on a harmonic-balance computer-aided-design (CAD)-oriented approach to the dynamic stability assessment.
