The Effect of Hip and Ankle Joint Abductor/Adductors Fatigue on Dynamic Balance of Soccer Players [PDF]

open access: yesSport Sciences and Health Research, 2014
The aim of this study was to examine the effect of hip and ankle jointabductor/adductors fatigue on the dynamic balance of soccer players. 20male physical education students (Mean±SD, age: 20.24±0.73 yrs, height:170.27±4.28 cm, weight: 67.38±7.24 kg, and

Dynamic balance of the aortomitral junction [PDF]

open access: yesThe Journal of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery, 2002
The aortic and mitral valves have been studied in isolation, as if their functions were independent. We hypothesized that both valves work in synchrony on the basis of the shared myocardial pump and orifice.Six sonometric crystals (7 sheep) were placed in both trigones, the midpoint of the anterior and posterior anulus, and the lateral extremities of ...

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Dynamic Measures of Balance during a 90° Turn in Self-Selected Gait in Individuals with Mild Parkinson’s Disease

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2023
The risk of falls is common in the aging and Parkinson’s disease (PD) populations. There is limited research on dynamic gait stability, i.e., margin of stability (MOS), in the PD population while turning.

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Comparision of dynamic and static balance in adolescents handball and soccer players

open access: yesTürk Spor ve Egzersiz Dergisi, 2014
This study aims to compare the static and dynamic balance in adolescents' handball and soccer players. 32 male student national athletes: soccer (N= 17), handball (N= 15) between 15-18 years of age and at least 3 training years were included to the study.

The Effect of 8 Weeks of Selected Exercises on Strength of the Hip Abductor Muscles and Balance in Healthy Elderly Women [PDF]

open access: yesSport Sciences and Health Research, 2016
Decreased postural balance and control in the elderly cause unpleasant complications such as falling and hip fracture. Given the importance of balance and strength in the elderly's health, the aim of study was the effect of 8 weeks of selected exercises ...

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.
