Inaccessible and isolated locations pose several problems to access scientific community onto a Grid infrastructure and satellite platforms could be the only practical way to provide connectivity. On the other hands, when an IP-based network is used to interconnect these sites, it is well known that standard Interned congestion control protocols (such ...

A dynamic bandwidth allocation scheme for EPON
SPIE Proceedings, 2008This paper analyses current bandwidth schemes and proposes a novel dynamic bandwidth allocation scheme for EPON. According the scheme, we define four kinds of multimedia services such as Unsolicited Request Service (URS), Realtime Service (rt-S), Non-Real-time Service (nrt-S) and Best Effort (BE).

Dynamic bandwidth allocation in satellite networks
2009 European Control Conference (ECC), 2009This work presents an adaptive control approach for queue-based Bandwidth-on-Demand (BoD) procedures in geostationary satellite networks. In queue-based protocols, the controller objective is to drive the buffer queue length to a certain target queue length.

Dynamic bandwidth allocation to virtual paths
1998 IEEE International Performance, Computing and Communications Conference. Proceedings (Cat. No.98CH36191), 2002An important problem associated with virtual paths is to determine the bandwidths that should be allocated to the set of virtual paths in the network. The bandwidth allocation to virtual path has strong impact on network throughput, signaling and call blocking QoS.

Dynamic bandwidth allocation EPON survey
2013 IEEE Student Conference on Research and Developement, 2013One of the best options to support fiber to the home is Ethernet passive optical network (EPON) as it provides high bandwidth as well as it is cost effective. However, the issues arise in the EPON system nowadays is the bandwidth allocation. There are numerous research works that are able to allocate the upstream bandwidth dynamically to the optical ...

FTTx with dynamic wavelength and bandwidth allocation
The International Conference on Information Networking 2014 (ICOIN2014), 2014In this paper, we propose a FTTx system using an active wavelength selective switch (WSS) incorporated with a dynamic wavelength and bandwidth allocation (DWBA) in order to improve the efficiency in bandwidth consumption of the FTTx based on wavelength division multiplexed passive optical network (WDM-PON).

Dynamic bandwidth allocation in mobile hotspots
2012 International Conference on Wireless Communications and Signal Processing (WCSP), 2012Resource management in mobile hotspots is an interesting and challenging issue. In this paper, we propose a dynamic bandwidth allocation (DBA) scheme consisted of call admission control and bandwidth adjustment functions to lower handoff vehicle dropping probability and efficiently utilize a resource of a base station.

Dynamic bandwidth allocation for Internet telephony
Computer Communications, 2004Internet telephony is promising for long-distance calls because of its low service charge and value-added functions. To provide Internet telephony to the general public, a service provider can operate a telephone gateway in each servicing city to bridge the local telephone network and the Internet, so that users can use telephones or fax machines to ...

A fuzzy dynamic bandwidth re-allocator
IEEE CCECE2002. Canadian Conference on Electrical and Computer Engineering. Conference Proceedings (Cat. No.02CH37373), 2003A high-speed network typically assigns each admitted connection a fixed bandwidth, somewhere between its mean and peak transmission rate. As an alternative, we develop a novel scheme for re-assigning network resources periodically on the basis of current network conditions.

Improved Dynamic Bandwidth Allocation Algorithm for XGPON
Journal of Optical Communications and Networking, 2016Passive optical networks (PONs) require a dynamic bandwidth allocation (DBA) algorithm at the optical line terminal for efficient utilization of upstream bandwidth among the optical network units (ONUs) as per the quality of service requirements for each traffic class defined by PON standardizing bodies. The GigaPON access network (GIANT) was the first
