Dynamic bandwidth allocation in a satellite communication network

2001 IEEE Aerospace Conference Proceedings (Cat. No.01TH8542), 2002
Our work deals with ATM satellite communications networks employing DAMA, whose algorithm must be efficient and robust. Its efficiency ensures a fast response to a connection's demand for bandwidth. Its robustness ensures satisfaction of the connection's required QoS and its integrity under unpredictable traffic burstiness.

Analysis and improvement of dynamic bandwidth allocation in EPON

SPIE Proceedings, 2005
Ethernet Passive Optical Network (EPON) has been considered as the best candidate of the next generation access network, because of it’s particular advantages, such as inexpensive, simple, scalable, and capable of delivering bundled voice, data and video services. However, the standard isn’t approved, many questions are still discussing.

Dynamic Bandwidth Allocation in IEEE 802.16

2006
IEEE 802.16 has gained significant research attention because of its broadband wireless services over a large coverage area. Bandwidth allocation plays very important role at the link layer of IEEE 802.16. In this paper, by considering the Automatic Repeat reQuest (ARQ) scheme for an erroneous wireless channel, a dynamic bandwidth allocation algorithm ...

A novel dynamic bandwidth allocation scheme in EPONs

SPIE Proceedings, 2005
EPONs use a point-to-multipoint topology, in which multiple optical network units (ONUs) share one uplink channel to transmit multimedia traffic to a control element, the optical line terminal (OLT). Hence, to avoid data collision on the shared uplink, ensure a contention-free transmission and so on, medium access control arbitration mechanisms are ...

Dynamic bandwidth allocation with minimum long fluctuations

2006 8th International Conference Advanced Communication Technology, 2006
A novel approach for smooth bandwidth allocation (SBA) is proposed in this paper that uses multiple state decision mechanism to eliminate large fluctuations in the allocated bandwidth. This algorithm is a dynamic bandwidth allocation which predicts the requirement bandwidth for the input traffic according to its arrival traffic and the SLA constrains ...

Dynamic Bandwidth Allocation in a TDMA System

1983
This satellite system provides integrated voice and digital data communication services for corporations via a geosynchronous satellite. IBM was contracted to build the Satellite Communications Controller (SCC) for the earth stations. The SCC provides signal conversion, traffic switching, data multiplexing and TDMA control for the system. Each SCC also

Self-adaptive dynamic bandwidth allocation for GPON

Bell Labs Technical Journal, 2010
Upstream dynamic bandwidth allocation for Gigabit Passive Optical Networks (GPONs) is an important design problem since the shared uplink carries many bursty streams with different quality of service (QoS) requirements, and hardware constraints necessitate infrequent update processing.

Dynamic bandwidth allocation in fixed BWA systems

International Conference on Communication Technology Proceedings, 2003. ICCT 2003., 2004
Broadband wireless access systems are members of a large class of shared medium access systems where a single central site communicates with multiple subscriber stations over a single transmission medium. This article introduces a novel method of sharing the single transmission medium with a number of subscriber stations in fixed BWA systems, which ...

An Improved Dynamic Bandwidth Allocation Algorithm for GPON

2009 Symposium on Photonics and Optoelectronics, 2009
Optical transmission is getting more popular in the access network due to the increasing demand for bandwidth. Gigabit-capable passive optical network (GPON) is the basic technology to support the structure of the next-generation fiber to the home (FTTH) system. ThLV paper analyzeG GPON protocols and network configuration, the information about dynamic
