Transportation: Dynamic braking

IEEE Spectrum, 1975
Points out that the kinetic energy of rapid transit trains that is normally dissipated as heat during braking can be converted to potential energy.

Braking Dynamic Performance

2019
The study of braking on straight road is performed using mathematical models similar to those seen in Chap. 23 for longitudinal dynamics. But in this case, the presence of suspensions and the compliance of tires are neglected and the motion is described by the longitudinal equilibrium equation (23.1) alone.

The Dynamics Simulation of Braking Process on Automobile Disc Brake

Advanced Materials Research, 2010
For a certain type of automobile disc brakes, brake discs and friction linings were modeled by Pro/E. The dynamics simulations of braking process on disc brake were performed by the frictional contact algorithm and nonlinear finite element method.

Linear eddy current brake for railway vehicles using dynamic braking

2008 18th International Conference on Electrical Machines, 2008
One type of braking system for railway vehicles is the eddy current brake. Because this type of brake has the problem of rail heating, it has not been put to practical use in Japan. Therefore we proposed using a linear induction motor (LIM) for dynamic braking in eddy current brake systems.

Dynamic Simulation of a Brake Valve in Air Brake System

SAE Technical Paper Series, 2009
<div class="htmlview paragraph">In the product development cycle, the study on the dynamic behavior of the product helps to freeze the concepts and physical level design rapidly. The lumped parameter approach and bond graph technique makes the dynamic simulation a handy tool for studying the product behavior.</div> <div class="htmlview ...

On Nonlinear Dynamics of Simplified Brake Dynamical Systems

Volume 9: Mechanical Systems and Control, Parts A, B, and C, 2007
In this paper, nonlinear dynamics mechanism of a brake system under a periodical excitation is investigated. The corresponding motion for such a system is described. The conditions for motion switching and sliding on the boundary are developed. Based on the discontinuous boundaries of motion, the basic mappings are introduced and the mapping structures

Braking Force Distribution Control for Improved Vehicle Dynamics and Brake Performance

Vehicle System Dynamics, 1995
SUMMARY This paper describes the feasibility of improving the braking performance of a commercial vehicle by using an electronic braking system. An electronic braking system enables the braking force at each wheel to be independently controlled. Braking force distribution control makes the braking force at each wheel proportional to each wheel's load ...

Braking System Dynamics

2017
<div class="section abstract"> <div class="htmlview paragraph">The aircraft landing gear is a complex multi-degree of freedom dynamic system, and may encounter vibration or dynamic response problems induced by braking action. The vibratory modes can be induced by brake and tire-ground frictional characteristics, antiskid operation, brake ...

Dynamic braking without specialized controls

IEEE Annual Textile Industry Technical Conference, 2003
The author reviews existing braking methods and compares the alternative methods for braking motors used in the textile industry. He discusses the use of three types of internal braking to increase productivity and product quality. They are plug stopping, and DC electronic braking, and microcomputer-based braking.
