A new measure of index assignment in dynamic channels
Information Sciences, 2008In dynamic noisy communication channels, a channel bit error rate (BER) varies with time. When channel distortion measure D"c is a function of bit error rate, an optimal index assignment to minimize D"c is not as uniformly optimal as BER varies. The paper presents a new distortion measure called expected channel distortion (ECD).

Dynamic Channel Assignment in Wireless LANs
2008 Workshop on Power Electronics and Intelligent Transportation System, 2008A traffic-aware and client-aware algorithm for dynamically assigning channels to access points (APs) in wireless local access networks (WLANs) is proposed. Traffic loads and received signal strength (RSS) values are used to characterize interference. The problem of selecting channels to minimize total interference then reduces to the Max k-Cut problem,

Dynamic Channel Assignment in IEEE 802.11g
2008 International Wireless Communications and Mobile Computing Conference, 2008In this paper, we propose a dynamic channel-assignment algorithm which minimizes the total interferences between access points (APs) of a Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN), while maintaining the Signal to Interferences Ratio (SIR) bigger than a certain threshold for all users. The algorithm initializes the channel assignment at the APs, and calculates

Dynamic channel assignment in GSM networks
Gateway to 21st Century Communications Village. VTC 1999-Fall. IEEE VTS 50th Vehicular Technology Conference (Cat. No.99CH36324), 1999In this paper, we present simulation results on GSM cellular system performances and investigate a dynamic channel allocation (DCA) technique based on GSM metrics RXLEV and RXQUAL. The proposed DCA strategy is combined with a classical slow frequency hopping (SFH) scheme to improve the radio link quality and to provide higher capacity.

Distributed dynamic channel assignment schemes
IEEE 43rd Vehicular Technology Conference, 2002Some distributed channel schemes for a one-dimensional cellular radio system are described. The channel assignment in the schemes proposed is based on signal strength measurements and therefore gives an improvement in capacity over schemes using reuse distance criterion for channel assignment. The proposed schemes are evaluated by simulations and their

Channel quality dynamics for wireless packet data with dynamic channel assignment
GLOBECOM 97. IEEE Global Telecommunications Conference. Conference Record, 2002We investigate how the interference/signal quality varies over time and the effect of channel setup delay on the signal quality for wireless packet data traffic with dynamic channel assignment (DCA). It is found that the SIR/interference conditions under packet data traffic becomes uncorrelated much more rapidly than that under conventional circuit ...

A Dynamic Channel Assignment Scheme for Distributed Antenna Networks
2012 IEEE 75th Vehicular Technology Conference (VTC Spring), 2012In this paper, we propose a dynamic channel assignment (DCA) scheme for distributed antenna networks (DANs). DANs, in which many antennas are distributed in each cell, significantly reduce the transmit power compared to conventional cellular networks (CNs).

A dynamic channel assignment policy through Q-learning
IEEE Transactions on Neural Networks, 1999One of the fundamental issues in the operation of a mobile communication system is the assignment of channels to cells and to calls. Since the number of channels allocated to a mobile communication system is limited, efficient utilization of these communication channels by using efficient channel assignment strategies is not only desirable but also ...

Performance issues and algorithms for dynamic channel assignment
[Conference Record] GLOBECOM '92 - Communications for Global Users: IEEE, 1993Performance issues and algorithms for dynamic channel assignment (DCA) in a time division multiple access (TDMA) portable radio system are considered. With DCA, a radio port can use any carrier frequency in any available time-slot to set up a radio link with a portable. The portable selects a radio port prior to channel assignment for initial access or
