Distributed dynamic channel assignment in wireless networks

2014 International Conference on Computing, Networking and Communications (ICNC), 2014
This paper studies the online channel assignment problem arising in dynamic wireless networks. The goal is to assign channels to communication links such that interference (or the number of conflicts) in the network is minimized. We model the problem as an online edge coloring problem. This problem is NP-hard by a reduction from EDGE COLORING.

Efficient distributed algorithms for dynamic channel assignment

Proceedings of PIMRC '96 - 7th International Symposium on Personal, Indoor, and Mobile Communications, 2002
The efficiency of channel assignment in a cellular telephone system is considered using the measures of successful channel assignment ratio as well as response time. Existing paradigms of mutual exclusion and dining philosophers from distributed systems are used to synthesize new algorithms that optimize both measures.

Dynamic assignment of random access code channels

GLOBECOM'01. IEEE Global Telecommunications Conference (Cat. No.01CH37270), 2002
In this paper, a measurement-based dynamic RA (Random Access) code assignment procedure Is proposed for prioritized packet data transmission in WCDMA (Wideband Code Division Multiple Access) networks. This dynamic assignment process is based on analytical performance results derived for random packet access under Rayleigh fading in WCDMA networks.

A new measure of index assignment in dynamic channels

Information Sciences, 2008
In dynamic noisy communication channels, a channel bit error rate (BER) varies with time. When channel distortion measure D"c is a function of bit error rate, an optimal index assignment to minimize D"c is not as uniformly optimal as BER varies. The paper presents a new distortion measure called expected channel distortion (ECD).

Parallel simulation of dynamic channel assignment

1997 IEEE 47th Vehicular Technology Conference. Technology in Motion, 2002
Future mobile systems will require huge radio network densities. Consequently, frequency planning and network simulation may become a tedious problem due to the large number of events that must be simulated. In this paper, we analyze a dynamic channel assignment algorithm by using a parallel discrete event simulator.

Dynamic Channel Assignment in Wireless LANs

2008 Workshop on Power Electronics and Intelligent Transportation System, 2008
A traffic-aware and client-aware algorithm for dynamically assigning channels to access points (APs) in wireless local access networks (WLANs) is proposed. Traffic loads and received signal strength (RSS) values are used to characterize interference. The problem of selecting channels to minimize total interference then reduces to the Max k-Cut problem,

Channel Assignment with r-Dynamic Coloring

2018
The channel assignment is an important problem with applications in optical networks. This problem was formulated to the L(p, 1)-labeling of graphs by Griggs and Yeh. The r-dynamic coloring is a generalization of the L(1, 1)-labeling. An r-dynamic k-coloring of a graph G is a proper k-coloring such that every vertex v is adjacent to at least min\(\{d(v)

Dynamic Channel Assignment in IEEE 802.11g

2008 International Wireless Communications and Mobile Computing Conference, 2008
In this paper, we propose a dynamic channel-assignment algorithm which minimizes the total interferences between access points (APs) of a Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN), while maintaining the Signal to Interferences Ratio (SIR) bigger than a certain threshold for all users. The algorithm initializes the channel assignment at the APs, and calculates

Dynamic channel assignment in GSM networks

Gateway to 21st Century Communications Village. VTC 1999-Fall. IEEE VTS 50th Vehicular Technology Conference (Cat. No.99CH36324), 1999
In this paper, we present simulation results on GSM cellular system performances and investigate a dynamic channel allocation (DCA) technique based on GSM metrics RXLEV and RXQUAL. The proposed DCA strategy is combined with a classical slow frequency hopping (SFH) scheme to improve the radio link quality and to provide higher capacity.
