3D (Bio) Printing Combined Fiber Fabrication Methods for Tissue Engineering Applications: Possibilities and Limitations

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Biofabrication aims at providing innovative technologies and tools for the fabrication of tissue‐like constructs for tissue engineering and regenerative medicine applications. By integrating multiple biofabrication technologies, such as 3D (bio) printing with fiber fabrication methods, it would be more realistic to reconstruct native tissue's ...

Enhancing Low‐Temperature Performance of Sodium‐Ion Batteries via Anion‐Solvent Interactions

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
DOL is introduced into electrolytes as a co‐solvent, increasing slat solubility, ion conductivity, and the de‐solvent process, and forming an anion‐rich solvent shell due to its high interaction with anion. With the above virtues, the batteries using this electrolyte exhibit excellent cycling stability at low temperatures. Abstract Sodium‐ion batteries

Dynamic modulus of elasticity of geopolymer lightweight aggregate concrete

open access: yesIOP Conference Series: Materials Science and Engineering, 2019
Abstract The production processes of ordinary Portland cement (OPC), accompanying with bad environment influences such as, huge energy consumption, greenhouse gases emissions and natural resource exploitation; but fly ash-based geopolymer concrete is produced without (OPC), yet that has many sustainable environment benefits.

Stretching the Printability Metric in Direct‐Ink Writing with Highly Extensible Yield‐Stress Fluids

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study introduces “drawability” as a new metric for assessing printability in direct‐ink writing, focusing on gap‐spanning performance and speed robustness. By designing yield‐stress fluids with high extensibility, we demonstrate that extensional strain‐to‐break significantly enhances printability.

Determination of dynamic and static modulus of elasticity of beech plywood

open access: yesLes, 2020
The study compared the values of the dynamic and static modulus of elasticity of 7- and 11-layer plywood with different combinations of the grain orientation of individual veneer layers. The dynamic modulus of elasticity was determined from the natural frequencies of the first and second vibration modes using the Bernoulli-Euler equation, and the ...

Laser‐Induced Graphene from Waste Almond Shells

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Almond shells, an abundant agricultural by‐product, are repurposed to create a fully bioderived almond shell/chitosan composite (ASC) degradable in soil. ASC is converted into laser‐induced graphene (LIG) by laser scribing and proposed as a substrate for transient electronics.
