The elasticity, dynamic properties, and superconductivity of $\alpha$, $\omega$, and $\beta$ Zr are investigated by using first-principles methods. Our calculated elastic constants, elastic moduli, and Debye temperatures of $\alpha$ and $\omega$ phases ...

Electromagnetic and mechanical characteristaion of ITER CS-MC conductors affected by transverse cyclic loading, part 3: mechanical properties [PDF]
The magnetic field and current of a coil wound with a cable-in-conduit conductor causes a transverse force pushing the cable to one side of the conduit. This load causes elastic and plastic deformation with friction as well as heating due to friction.

A numerical–experimental framework is developed for characterizing multi‐matrix fiber‐reinforced polymers (MM‐FRPs) combining epoxy and polyurethane matrices. Harmonic bending tests are integrated with finite element model updating (FEMU) to simultaneously identify elastic and viscoelastic material parameters.

Resonant Acoustic Determination of Complex Elastic Moduli [PDF]
A simple, inexpensive, yet accurate method for measuring the dynamic complex modulus of elasticity is described. Using a 'free-free' bar selectively excited in three independent vibrational modes, the shear modulus is obtained by measuring the frequency ...

Additive Gaussian Process Regression for Predictive Design of High‐Performance, Printable Silicones
A chemistry‐aware design framework for tuning printable polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) for vat photopolymerization (VPP) is developed using additive Gaussian process (GP) modeling. Polymer network mechanics informs variable groupings, feasible formulation constraints, and interaction variables.

Linear and nonlinear modulus surfaces in stress space, from stress-strain measurements on Berea sandstone [PDF]
International audienceThe elastic response of many rocks to quasistatic stress changes is highly nonlinear and hysteretic, displaying discrete memory. Rocks also display unusual nonlinear response to dynamic stress changes.
