Characterization of Nitinol Produced by Laser Powder Bed Fusion for Mechanical Metamaterial Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Stabilization of L‐PBF Ni50.7Ti49.3 under low‐cycle loading was investigated. Recoverable strain after cycling was dependent on the amount of applied load. Recovery ratio was 53.4% and 35.1% at intermediate and high load, respectively. The maximum total strain reached 10.3% at a high load of 1200 MPa.

Towards Defect Phase Diagrams: From Research Data Management to Automated Workflows

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A research data management infrastructure is presented for the systematic integration of heterogeneous experimental and simulation data required for defect phase diagrams. The approach combines openBIS with a companion application for large‐object storage, automated metadata extraction, provenance tracking and federated data access, thereby supporting ...

Brake Fault Identification and Fault-Tolerant Directional Stability Control of Heavy Road Vehicles

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2020
Accurate fault diagnosis in air brake is crucial to reduce frequent brake inspection and maintenance in heavy commercial road vehicles. Existing model-based fault diagnostic schemes work well under limited vehicle operating conditions, which is ...

Fast and Compact Distributed Verification and Self-Stabilization of a DFS Tree [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
We present algorithms for distributed verification and silent-stabilization of a DFS(Depth First Search) spanning tree of a connected network. Computing and maintaining such a DFS tree is an important task, e.g., for constructing efficient routing ...

Multimodal Data‐Driven Microstructure Characterization

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A self‐consistent autonomous workflow for EBSP‐based microstructure segmentation by integrating PCA, GMM clustering, and cNMF with information‐theoretic parameter selection, requiring no user input. An optimal ROI size related to characteristic grain size is identified.

Fault tree analysis and artificial neural network modelling for establishing a predictive ship machinery maintenance methodology [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
A dynamic fault tree model for a ship main engine is developed in order to analyse and identify critical systems/components of the main engine. The identified most critical systems are then used as input in an artificial neural network. An autoregressive
