Modelling and mechanical characteristics of PDC cutter-rock interaction by combining mixed fragmentation modes with dynamic rock strength

open access: yesPetroleum
Polycrystalline diamond compact (PDC) bit is one of the most widely used drill bits for improving the rate of penetration in deep oil and gas well and geothermal well.

Statistics of dynamic fragmentation for a necking instability

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2015
In the aim of predicting the fragmentation of expanding structures, a Mott type approach is applied to the potential failure points driven from an instability analysis.

Coagulation and fragmentation dynamics of inertial particles [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review E, 2009
Inertial particles suspended in many natural and industrial flows undergo coagulation upon collisions and fragmentation if their size becomes too large or if they experience large shear. Here we study this coagulation-fragmentation process in time-periodic incompressible flows.

From mice to humans—divergent strategies for intestinal homeostasis and regeneration

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Recent advances such as organoid genome editing, xenotransplantation, imaging, and whole‐genome sequencing have enabled direct studies of human intestinal stem cells (ISCs). These studies reveal species‐specific features, including slower ISC proliferation, distinct injury responses, slower somatic mutation accumulation in humans, and an inverse ...

Effects of High-Temperature Cycling on Dynamic Splitting Tensile Properties and Fragmentation Energy Dissipation Behavior of Sandstone

open access: yesApplied Sciences
Dust and coal mine gas in deep mines are highly prone to causing fires, and the cyclic high temperatures generated by such fires are one of the key factors contributing to the instability of deep rock structures. To research the dynamic splitting tensile

Identification of a Shiga toxin A‐derived peptide internalized into Gb3 receptor‐bearing cells via interaction with the Shiga toxin B subunit

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The process of internalization of the Shiga toxin A subunit via formation of a complex with the Shiga toxin B subunit, which specifically binds to the Gb3 receptor. The peptide is designed to act as a carrier of drugs into cancer cells. Here, we explored the potential of peptides derived from the catalytic A subunit of Shiga toxin (STxA) to be drug ...

An Accurate SPH Scheme for Dynamic Fragmentation modelling

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2018
We focus on the use of a meshless numerical method called Smooth Particle Hydrodynamics (SPH), to solve fragmentation issues as Hyper Velocity Impact (HVI) cases.

Eco‐evolutionary dynamics in fragmented landscapes [PDF]

open access: yesEcography, 2016
It is widely recognized that ecological dynamics influence evolutionary dynamics, and conversely that evolutionary changes alter ecological processes. Because fragmentation impacts all biological levels (from individuals to ecosystems) through isolation and reduced habitat size, it strongly affects the links among evolutionary and ecological processes ...

Conserved binding mode but diverse interfaces of MreC‐PBP2 interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The crystal structure of abMreC reveals a conserved two β‐barrel architecture and provides structural insights into its role within the bacterial elongasome. The abMreC–abPBP2 complex model identifies the molecular basis of MreC‐mediated PBP2 recognition, contributing to the regulation of peptidoglycan synthesis.

An epithelial GPR35 isoform supports tumor‐associated transcriptional and metabolic phenotypes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
GPR35 generates two functionally distinct isoforms with previously unresolved roles. GPR35‐short mediates immune‐cell chemotaxis, while GPR35‐long is enriched in colorectal cancer epithelium, where it supports increased metabolism, proliferation, and tumor‐associated transcriptional programs.
