Soft Mechanical‐Electrical Logic Using Liquid Metal‐Filled 3D‐Printed Architectures

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
We present 3D‐printed soft mechanical–electrical logic elements that use liquid metal–filled silicone tubes actuated by thermoplastic polyurethane/polylactic acid (TPU/PLA) architectures to produce Boolean operations. Complementary normally open and normally closed unit cells perform repeatable binary transitions and can be combined into more complex ...

Kernel hardness and dough reological investigation on different wheat varieties [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
The aim of this research was the investigation of winter wheat varieties, the kernel hardness and the dough features. We determined the kernel hardness with two dynamic methods. We measured the parameters of flour.

Dynamic Piezoelectric Tactile Sensor for Tissue Hardness Measurement Using Symmetrical Flexure Hinges and Anisotropic Vibration Modes

open access: yes, 2021
This paper presents a novel dynamic tactile sensor with a symmetrical longitudinal piezoelectric cantilever structure, which is different from the conventional transverse cantilever structure. It has a radical size of 1.1 centimeters.

Enhanced Strength and Corrosion Resistance of Ti‐13Nb‐12Ta‐10Zr‐4Sn Alloy by Aging Treatment

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This work systematically investigates the effect of aging treatment on mechanical properties and corrosion behavior of vacuum arc‐melted Ti‐13Nb‐12Ta‐10Zr‐4Sn alloy. Owing to the increased α″ martensite, strength and corrosion resistance were significantly enhanced by aging treatment.

Experimental study and numerical simulation of the vertical bounce of a polymer ball over a wide temperature range [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
The dependence to temperature of the rebound of a solid polymer ball on a rigid slab is investigated. An acrylate polymer ball is brought to a wide range of temperatures, covering its glass to rubbery transition, and let fall on a granite slab while the ...

On the evolution of the empirical measure for hard-sphere dynamics

open access: yes, 2015
We prove that the evolution of marginals associated to the empirical measure of a finite system of hard spheres is driven by the BBGKY hierarchical expansion. The usual hierarchy of equations for L^1 measures is obtained as a corollary. We discuss the ambiguities arising in the corresponding notion of microscopic series solution to the Boltzmann-Enskog

Toward Knowledge‐Based Workflows: A Semantic Approach to Atomistic Simulations for Mechanical and Thermodynamic Properties

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Knowledge‐based atomistic workflows are presented for mechanical and thermodynamic properties. By coupling modular simulations with ontology‐aligned metadata and provenance, Fe case studies on elastic behavior, defects, thermal properties, and Hall–Petch strengthening reveal how FAIR, queryable, and reusable simulation data can be generated. Mechanical

Hard spheres dynamics: weak vs hard collisions

open access: yes, 2020
We consider the motion of a finite though large number $N$ of hard spheres in the whole space $\mathbb{R}^n$. Particles move freely until they experience elastic collisions. We use our recent theory of Compensated Integrability in order to estimate how much the particles are deviated by collisions. Our result, which is expressed in terms of hodographs,
