Hysteresis-based design of dynamic reference trajectories to avoid saturation in controlled wind turbines [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
The main objective of this paper is to design a dynamic reference trajectory based on hysteresis to avoid saturation in controlled wind turbines. Basically, the torque controller and pitch controller set-points are hysteretically manipulated to avoid ...

Microstructural Evolution and Vacancy Defect Formation in Mn–Mo–Ni RPV Steel Under Low Cycle Fatigue: Insights From EBSD and PALS

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Low‐cycle fatigue damage in Mn–Mo–Ni reactor pressure vessel steel is examined using a combined electron backscatter diffraction and positron annihilation lifetime spectroscopy approach. The study correlates texture evolution, dislocation substructure development, and vacancy‐type defect formation across uniform, necked, and fracture regions, providing

Deep Spin-Glass Hysteresis Area Collapse and Scaling in the $d=3$ $\pm J$ Ising Model

open access: yes, 2012
We investigate the dissipative loss in the $\pm J$ Ising spin glass in three dimensions through the scaling of the hysteresis area, for a maximum magnetic field that is equal to the saturation field.

3D‐Printed Serial Snap‐Through Architectures for Programmable Mechanical Response

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A serial snap‐through architecture is realized using compact 3D‐printed von Mises truss units arranged in a staged cascade. Their geometry and boundary conditions program multistage mechanical responses with plateaux and re‐hardening regimes. An inverted‐compliance model predicts these behaviors and enables analytical design of programmable force ...

Dynamic optical bistability in resonantly enhanced Raman generation

open access: yes, 2004
We report observations of novel dynamic behavior in resonantly-enhanced stimulated Raman scattering in Rb vapor. In particular, we demonstrate a dynamic hysteresis of the Raman scattered optical field in response to changes of the drive laser field ...

Dynamical hysteresis phenomena in complex network traffic [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review E, 2009
In this Brief Report, the dynamical hysteresis is investigated in constant-density traffic system of scale-free, small-world, and lattice networks. With the local-searching strategy, hysteresis persists for scale-free networks, while it disappears for small-world networks and lattice grids when the handling ability of nodes is higher than a certain ...

Ferrocene Derivatives Enable Ultrasensitive Perovskite Photodetectors with Enhanced Reverse Bias Stability

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Novel ferrocene derivatives (e.g., FcPhc2) are used as an ultrathin layer hole‐blocking layer, reducing hole injection from the Ag contact. This results in an ultralow noise spectral density of 1.2 × 10−14 A Hz−1/2, and a high specific detectivity of 8.1 × 1012 Jones at −0.5 V.

Stochastic Dynamics in Quenched-in Disorder and Hysteresis

open access: yes, 1998
The conditions under which relaxation dynamics in the presence of quenched-in disorder lead to rate-independent hysteresis are discussed. The calculation of average hysteresis branches is reduced to the solution of the level-crossing problem for the ...

Dynamic Behaviour of a Flexible Yacht Sail Plan [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
• Dynamic fluid structure interaction of a sail plan is modeled in harmonic pitching • Aerodynamic forces oscillations show hysteresis phenomena • Neglecting the structural deformation underestimates the forces oscillations • Both aerodynamic and ...

Enhancing CoFe Catalysts with V2CTX MXene‐Derived Materials for Anion Exchange Membrane Electrolyzers

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
MXene dervied CoFe composites show increased initial Oxygen Evolution Reaction (OER) activity compared to the pure CoFe and MXene in an Anion Exchange Membrane device. Vanadium vacancies in the MXene plays a role in increased OER activity and hinders Fe leaching in the AEM device over using the pure V2C MXene as a support material for the CoFe ...
