Monte Carlo simulations of dynamic phase transitions in ultrathin Blume-Capel films

open access: yes, 2013
Dynamic phase transition phenomena in ultrathin films described by Blume-Capel model have been investigated using Monte Carlo simulations. Hysteresis loops, micromagnetic structures, and hysteresis loop area curves, as well as dynamic correlation between

Simple models for dynamic hysteresis loops calculation: Application to hyperthermia optimization [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
To optimize the heating properties of magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs) in magnetic hyperthermia applications, it is necessary to calculate the area of their hysteresis loops in an alternating magnetic field.

Dynamic Hysteresis in Cyclic Deformation of Crystalline Solids [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review Letters, 2012
The hysteresis or internal friction in the deformation of crystalline solids stressed cyclically is studied from the viewpoint of collective dislocation dynamics. Stress-controlled simulations of a dislocation dynamics model at various loading frequencies and amplitudes are performed to study the stress - strain rate hysteresis.

Prospects of Electric Field Control in Perpendicular Magnetic Tunnel Junctions and Emerging 2D Spintronics for Ultralow Energy Memory and Logic Devices

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Electric control of magnetic tunnel junctions offers a path to drastically reduce the energy requirements of the device. Electric field control of magnetization can be realized in a multitude of ways. These mechanisms can be integrated into existing spintronic devices to further reduce the operational energy.

Printed Integrated Logic Circuits Based on Chitosan‐Gated Organic Transistors for Future Edible Systems

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Edible electronics needs integrated logic circuits for computation and control. This work presents a potentially edible printed chitosan‐gated transistor with a design optimized for integration in circuits. Its implementation in integrated logic gates and circuits operating at low voltage (0.7 V) is demonstrated, as well as the compatibility with an ...

Nonlinear waves in solids with slow dynamics: an internal-variable model [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
In heterogeneous solids such as rocks and concrete, the speed of sound diminishes with the strain amplitude of a dynamic loading (softening). This decrease known as "slow dynamics" occurs at time scales larger than the period of the forcing.

Laser‐Induced Graphene from Waste Almond Shells

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Almond shells, an abundant agricultural by‐product, are repurposed to create a fully bioderived almond shell/chitosan composite (ASC) degradable in soil. ASC is converted into laser‐induced graphene (LIG) by laser scribing and proposed as a substrate for transient electronics.

Clean‐Limit 2D Superconductivity in a Thick Exfoliated Kagome Film

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study reports clean‐limit 2D superconductivity in a thick kagome system, analogous to the 3D case. It observes a drop in superfluid stiffness near the superconducting transition and a cusp‐like feature in the angular dependence of the upper critical field.

Fermi Surface Nesting and Anomalous Hall Effect in Magnetically Frustrated Mn2PdIn

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Mn2PdIn, a frustrated inverse Heusler alloy, showing electronic‐structure driven anomalous Hall effect with Weyl crossings, Fermi‐surface nesting and near‐zero magnetization ideal for low‐magnetization spintronics. Abstract Noncollinear magnets with near‐zero net magnetization and nontrivial bulk electronic topology hold significant promise for ...
