Review of dynamic line rating systems for wind power integration [PDF]

open access: yesRenewable and Sustainable Energy Reviews, 2016
When a wind power system is connected to a network point there is a limit of power generation based on the characteristics of the network and the loads connected to it.

Uncertainty analysis of stochastic dynamic line rating

open access: yesElectric Power Systems Research, 2021
Abstract This paper presents an uncertainty analysis of lines equipped with dynamic line rating (DLR) that are exposed to operational overloading. Multiple sources of uncertainties are taken in to account to model the line rating probabilistically. The superiority of dynamic rating above static rating is confirmed in this paper.

Impact From Dynamic Line Rating on Wind Power Integration

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Smart Grid, 2015
The concept of dynamic rating (DR) implies that the capacity of a component varies dynamically as a function of external parameters, while the rating traditionally is based on the worst-case.

A survey of sag monitoring methods for power grid transmission lines

open access: yesIET Generation, Transmission & Distribution, 2023
The transmission line is a fundamental asset in the power grid. The sag condition of the transmission line between two support towers requires accurate real‐time monitoring in order to avoid any health and safety hazards or power failure.

Probabilistic weather forecasting for dynamic line rating studies [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
This paper aims to describe methods to determine short term probabilistic forecasts of weather conditions experienced at overhead lines (OHLs) in order to predict percentiles of dynamic line ratings of OHLs which can be used by a system operator within a
