An Improved Statistical Method for Calculating Lightning Overvoltages in HVDC Overhead Line/Cable Systems

open access: yesEnergies, 2019
HVDC cable systems connected to HVDC overhead lines are subject to fast front overvoltages emanating from the line when lightning strikes a shield wire (backflashover) or a pole conductor (shielding failure).

On-line Monitoring of Sag and Icing of Overhead Transmission Lines

open access: yesJournal of Harbin University of Science and Technology, 2023
In order to realize on-line icing and galloping monitoring of overhead transmission lines, an on-line monitoring method for overhead transmission lines based on phase-sensitive optical time domain reflectometry (Φ-OTDR) is proposed.

Mathematical Model for Determination of EMF and Current Induced in the Loop of Lighting Protection Cable by Magnetic Fields of 220 KV Phase Currents

open access: yesРоссийская Арктика, 2022
The electrical grid of regional power systems primarily uses double-circuit 220 kV overhead power lines to function. This paper provides information on the problem of ice formation on overhead ground wires of 220 kV power lines, including a brief ...

Nonintrusive overhead‐line current detection using a vertical magnetic‐field sensor array

open access: yesIET Generation, Transmission & Distribution, 2023
With the growing infrastructure for overhead lines, the demand for overhead‐line condition‐monitoring technologies has become increasingly urgent. Traditional current transformers used to measure three‐phase currents are bulky and difficult to install ...

Normalization of double-circuit overhead line magnetic field inside Khrushchev building

open access: yesElectrical engineering & Electromechanics, 2021
This paper deals with the mitigation of 110 kV double-circuit overhead line magnetic field inside five-story Khrushchev buildings. We show that the magnetic field can exceed the reference level 0.5 μT in 90 % part of living space.
