Dynamical Systems Described by Discrete Maps with Noise
1981Since this contribution is one of the first in this volume and this conference is a truly interdisciplinary one, it might be useful to begin with a few general comments before entering the more technical part of our contribution.

Impact of the parametric noise on map-based dynamical systems
AIP Conference Proceedings, 2018Discrete-time nonlinear dynamical systems with general parametric stochastic disturbances are considered. For such systems, a problem of the probabilistic analysis of the random states dispersion around attractors is studied. For the constructive approximation of probabilistic distributions, the method of the stochastic sensitivity is developed. Matrix

A robust localization algorithm in topological maps with dynamic noises
Industrial Robot: An International Journal, 2008Purpose – The paper's purpose is to propose a localization algorithm for topological maps constituted by nodes and edges in a graph form. The focus is to develop a robust localization algorithm that works well even under various dynamic noises.Design/methodology/approach – For robust localization, the authors propose an algorithm which utilizes all ...

Signal-to-noise analysis of cerebral blood volume maps from dynamic NMR imaging studies
Journal of Magnetic Resonance Imaging, 1997AbstractThe use of cerebral blood volume (CBV) maps generated from dynamic MRI studies tracking the bolus passage of paramagnetic contrast agents strongly depends on the signal‐to‐noise ratio (SNR) of the maps. The authors present a semianalytic model for the noise in CBV maps and introduce analytic and Monte Carlo techniques for determining the effect

Toward a dynamic national transportation noise map: Modeling temporal variability of traffic volume
The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2023The National Transportation Noise Map (NTNM) gives time-averaged traffic noise across the continental United States (CONUS) using annual average daily traffic. However, traffic noise varies significantly with time. This paper outlines the development and utility of a traffic volume model which is part of VROOM, the Vehicular Reduced-Order Observation ...

Symbolic dynamics of one-dimensional maps: Entropies, finite precision, and noise
International Journal of Theoretical Physics, 1982In the study of nonlinear physical systems, one encounters apparently random or chaotic behavior, although the systems may be completely deterministic. Applying techniques from symbolic dynamics to maps of the interval, we compute two measures of chaotic behavior commonly employed in dynamical systems theory: the topological and metric entropies.

Influence of dynamical noise on time series generated by nonlinear maps
Physica D: Nonlinear Phenomena, 2008Consider the dynamical noise called ``pseudonoise'' corrupting a time series generated by a discrete iterated function system (map). Especially, the discrete maps \[ x_{n+1} = f(x_n) \] modified by the two types of maps \[ y_{n+1} = f(y_n) + \eta_n \] or \[ z_{n+1} = f(z_n+\eta_n) \] with noise terms \(\eta_n\) are under consideration.

The National Transportation Noise Map predicts time-averaged road traffic noise across the continental United States (CONUS) based on annual average daily traffic counts. However, traffic noise can vary greatly with time. This paper outlines a method for predicting nationwide hourly varying source traffic sound emissions called the Vehicular Reduced ...
