Incorporation, Plurality, and the Incorporation of Plurals : a Dynamic Approach [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
This paper deals with the semantic properties of incorporated nominals that are present at clausal syntax. Such nominals exhibit a complex cluster of semantic properties, ranging from argument structure, scope, and number to discourse transparency.

A Meta-model Semantics for Structural Constraints in UML [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
The UML standard has adopted a meta-modelling approach to defining the abstract syntax of UML. A meta-modelling approach is taken essentially to aid the construction of automated tools, but the semantics is defined by statements in English.

Dynamic Clustering and Scaling Behavior of Active Particles under Confinement

open access: yesNanomaterials
A systematic investigation of the dynamic clustering behavior of active particles under confinement, including the effects of both particle density and active driving force, is presented based on a hybrid coarse-grained molecular dynamics simulation ...

A Resolution Calculus for Dynamic Semantics [PDF]

open access: yes, 1998
This paper applies resolution theorem proving to natural language semantics. The aim is to circumvent the computational complexity triggered by natural language ambiguities like pronoun binding, by interleaving pronoun binding with resolution deduction. Therefore disambiguation is only applied to expression that actually occur during derivations.

A Study of the Effect of Temperature on the Capacitance Characteristics of a Metal-μhemisphere Resonant Gyroscope

open access: yesSensors
Metal-μhemispherical resonant gyros (M-μHRGs) are widely used in highly dynamic navigation systems in extreme environments due to their high accuracy and structural stability.

Unfounded Sets and Well-Founded Semantics of Answer Set Programs with Aggregates

open access: yes, 2011
Logic programs with aggregates (LPA) are one of the major linguistic extensions to Logic Programming (LP). In this work, we propose a generalization of the notions of unfounded set and well-founded semantics for programs with monotone and antimonotone ...

Extended Dynamic Model for the UR16e 6-Degree-of-Freedom Robotic Manipulator

open access: yesSensors
This study develops and validates an Extended Analytical Dynamic Model (EADM) of the UR16e 6-Degree-of-Freedom (DoF) industrial robot, incorporating actuator dynamics and a friction model to address the lack of dynamic information provided by the ...

The Functional Semantics of Oral Speech Discourse Markers: Dynamic Aspect

open access: yesИзвестия Уральского федерального университета. Серия 2: Гуманитарные науки, 2018
This article considers the functional semantic features of the oral speech discourse markers авось, мол, в принципе, вообще, на самом деле, как ни крути in the dynamic aspect. The choice of the subject matter of the research is conditioned by the absence

A Dynamic Semantics for Vague Predicates

open access: yesAnnals of the Japan Association for Philosophy of Science, 2004
Supervaluationism tries to explain the Sorites-like paradoxes connected with vague predicates. A weakness of this explanation (inability of explaining the `elusiveness' of super-truth) can be avoided in a revised version which is offered by dynamic semantics. The basic notions of the latter are defined and a solution of the paradox is given.
