In this study, a series of resonant-column experiments were conducted on marine clays from Bohai Bay and Hangzhou Bay, China. The characteristics of the dynamic shear modulus (G) and damping ratio (D) of these marine clays were examined.

Investigation on the dynamic shear modulus of fiber-reinforced sand
Abstract As a new type of composite material, fiber-reinforced soil has attracted much attention due to its good dispersibility, mechanical properties and durability. Based on the dynamic triaxial test, the dynamic characteristics of polypropylene fiber-reinforced sand were studied, and the effects of fiber content (w), fiber length (lf

A numerical–experimental framework is developed for characterizing multi‐matrix fiber‐reinforced polymers (MM‐FRPs) combining epoxy and polyurethane matrices. Harmonic bending tests are integrated with finite element model updating (FEMU) to simultaneously identify elastic and viscoelastic material parameters.

Phase‐field simulations coupled with dislocation‐density‐based crystal plasticity modeling reproduce γ′ rafting behavior in single‐crystal Ni‐based superalloys under varied loading conditions. The model captures both macroscopic creep and microscopic morphology evolution, with results matching high‐temperature creep experiments.

Dynamic Shear Modulus of Soil Using a Random Vibration Method
The random vibration method is proposed in this study for evaluation of the dynamic shear modulus of soil using the apparatus developed by Hardin, and the results are compared with that obtained by the standard sinusoidal test. The soil specimen made of two kinds of clay and sand were placed in the triaxial cell, and twisted at the top by sinusoidal or ...

Karl Popper and the Mechanisms of Hydrogen Embrittlement
Representation of the beginning of loss of ductility rather than embrittlement. Small concentrations of hydrogen in a diffusible form within iron are well‐established to harm the mechanical integrity of steels. There are theories that attempt to explain the pernicious role of hydrogen.

Dynamic Shear Modulus in Torsion of Human Dentin and Enamel
The dynamic shear moduli of human dentin and enamel were measured using a torsion pendulum over a temperature range from 23 to 150 degrees C. For dentin, the shear modulus slightly increased for temperatures near 50 to 100 degrees C, which was caused by a loss of free water. The peak in the loss tangent was observed near 75 degrees C.

Creep‐Induced Microstructural Evolution in an A2‐B2 Superalloy
A 27.3Ta‐27.3Mo‐27.3Ti‐8Cr‐10Al (at.%) refractory high‐entropy alloy with precipitation‐strengthened A2‐B2 microstructure was studied by creep tests at 1030°C, which demonstrate a transition in deformation mechanisms in the range of 100–150 MPa applied stress. This is associated with changes in dislocation–precipitate interactions. Relevant deformation
