Application of Dynamic Smagorinsky Model to the Finite Difference Lattice Boltzmann Method
Three-dimensional turbulent flows past a square cylinder are simulated by the Finite Difference Lattice Boltzmann Method (FDLBM). We carry out the simulation in two approaches.

Field Experimental Study of Dynamic Smagorinsky Models in the Atmospheric Surface Layer [PDF]
An analysis of dynamic Smagorinsky models is performed based on the Horizontal Array Turbulence Study (HATS) dataset. In the experiment, two vertically separated horizontal arrays of 14 three-dimensional sonic anemometers were placed in the atmospheric surface layer.

This paper presents results of comparative study of large eddy simulation (LES) that is applied to a plane turbulent channel flow. The LES is performed by using a finite difference method of second order accuracy in space and a low-storage explicit Runge-Kutta method with third order accuracy in time.

A Dynamic Mixed Model for General Circulation Models
An extension of the dynamic Smgarorinsky model (DSM) is presented. In the so-called dynamic mixed model (DMM), the Leonard stress (i.e., the resolved part of the Reynolds stress) is no longer parameterized in the test filter range by the Smagorinsky ...

Study of unsteady cavitation on NACA66 hydrofoil using dynamic cubic nonlinear subgrid-scale model
In this article, we describe the use of a new dynamic cubic nonlinear model, a new nonlinear subgrid-scale model, for simulating the cavitating flow around an NACA66 series hydrofoil. For comparison, the dynamic Smagorinsky model is also used.

Validation study for Large-Eddy Simulation of Forest Flow [PDF]
The publication presents Large-Eddy Simulation (LES) of flow over a reduced-scale wind tunnel model of a forest canopy. The final aim of the study is to determine factors responsible for damage in forests by strong winds.
