Network coding relayed dynamic spectrum access

Proceedings of the 2010 ACM workshop on Cognitive radio networks, 2010
Existing paradigms of dynamic spectrum access (DSA) impose a 'foe' relationship between the primary users (PUs) and the secondary users (SUs), where SUs may access the spectrum only when PUs cease using it, and the resurgence of PU traffic disrupts SU traffic. To comply with such stringent DSA policies, SUs behave conservatively to sense and access the

Cognitive Management Strategies for Dynamic Spectrum Access

2017
The Cognitive Radio (CR) paradigm represents an innovative solution to mitigate the spectrum scarcity problem. Enabling a Dynamic Spectrum Access (DSA), it conciliates the existing conflict between the ever-increasing spectrum demand and the currently inefficient spectrum utilization.

Multiplexing Analysis for Dynamic Spectrum Access

MILCOM 2006, 2006
The problem of wireless spectrum sharing is investigated using a multi-server queueing system that models a group of channels and a multiplexed arrival process formed by a primary and secondary group of users. Motivated by under-utilized capacity in RF spectrum owned by the primary group, this work examines the impact of secondary user access patterns ...

Dynamic spectrum access in DTV whitespaces

Proceedings of the 15th annual international conference on Mobile computing and networking, 2009
In November 2008, the FCC ruled that the digital TV whitespaces be used for unlicensed access. This is an exciting development because DTV whitespaces are in the low frequency range (50-698 MHz) compared to typical cellular and ISM bands, thus resulting in much better propagation characteristics and much higher spectral efficiencies.

Spectrum prediction in dynamic spectrum access systems

Despite the remarkable foreseen advancements in maximizing network capacities, the in-expansible nature of radio spectrum exposed outdated spectrum management techniques as a core limitation. Fixed spectrum allocation inefficiency has generated a proliferation of dynamic spectrum access solutions to accommodate the growing demand for wireless, and ...

Dynamic Spectrum Access in Cognitive Radio

2009
In recent years, demand for wireless communication services has grown far beyond earlier predictions, raising serious concerns about future radio spectrum shortages. Current spectrum management policy is characterised by static spectrum allocation where radio spectrum is allocated on a long term for large geographical regions on exclusive basis.
