Unsteady stall control using dynamically deforming airfoils

open access: yesAIAA Journal, 1998
Introduction An experiment documenting the compressible flow over a dynamically deforming airfoil is presented. This airfoil, which has a leading edge radius that can be dynamically changed, was tested at various defor- mation rates for fixed airfoils angle of attack. Selected leading-edge shapes were also tested during airfoil os- cillation.

Deep Learning Methods for Assessing Time‐Variant Nonlinear Signatures in Clutter Echoes

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
Motion classification from biosonar echoes in clutter presents a fundamental challenge: extracting structured information from stochastic interference. Deep learning successfully discriminates object speed and direction from bat‐inspired signals, achieving 97% accuracy with frequency‐modulated calls but only 48% with constant‐frequency tones. This work

Low-speed wind-tunnel investigation of the flight dynamic characteristics of an advanced turboprop business/commuter aircraft configuration [PDF]

open access: yes
An investigation was conducted to determine the low-speed flight dynamic behavior of a representative advanced turboprop business/commuter aircraft concept. Free-flight tests were conducted in the NASA Langley Research Center's 30- by 60-Foot Tunnel.

Navigating Whiteness in Australia's Anti‐Racism Movement: A Duoethnographic Inquiry by Women of Colour Scholars

open access: yesAustralian Journal of Social Issues, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This paper applies Critical Race Theory (CRT) to explore how whiteness operates within Australia's anti‐racism movement as a structuring force that shapes discourse, practice and policy. Despite the anti‐racism movement offering crucial spaces for resistance and reform, it remains entangled in Australia's settler‐colonial present and systemic ...

Application of the ONERA model of dynamic stall [PDF]

open access: yes
A semiempirical model to predict the unsteady loads on an airfoil that is experiencing dynamic stall, is investigated. The mathematical model is described from an engineering point of view, demonstrates the procedure for obtaining various empirical ...

Unravelling the Referendum: An Analysis of the 2023 Australian Voice to Parliament Referendum Outcomes Across Capital Cities

open access: yesAustralian Journal of Social Issues, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The 2023 Australian Voice to Parliament Referendum presented a pivotal moment in the nation's democratic landscape. Despite support for Indigenous well‐being, the referendum did not secure the necessary approval, prompting extensive analysis of its outcome.

An automated stall-speed warning system [PDF]

open access: yes
The development and testing of a stall-speed warning system for the OV-1C was examined. NASA designed and built an automated stall-speed warning system which presents both airspeed and stall speed to the pilot.

Owning Home, Finding Belonging: Relational Meanings of Homeownership for Migrant Healthcare Workers in Australia

open access: yesAustralian Journal of Social Issues, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Migrant healthcare workers in Australia find themselves at the centre of three intersecting concerns, often presented as ‘crises’ in contemporary discourse: the ‘care crisis’, the ‘housing crisis’ and the ‘migration crisis.’ Yet their own perspectives on these issues are rarely foregrounded. This paper explores the role of homeownership in the

Water tunnel studies of dynamic wing flap effects [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
The flow features developing over a two-element NACA 0012 airfoil, with the rear portion serving as a trailing edge flap, were investigated using dye flow visualization in the NPS water tunnel.
