Texoskeletons: Developing the Fundamental Technologies for Creating Intelligent Soft Robotic Clothing With Integrated 1D Sensors and Actuators

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Traditional wearable exoskeletons rely on rigid structures, which limit comfort, flexibility, and everyday usability. This work introduces the fundamental technologies to create the first soft, lightweight, intelligent textile‐based exoskeletons (Texoskeletons) built using 1D sensors and actuators.

Shock isolation using switchable stiffness

open access: yes, 2008
This study investigates a novel stiffness control strategy applied to the problem of shock isolation. This is based on the principle that the stiffness and mass are the principal physical properties that control the passive system shock response.

Analysis of Dynamic Stiffness of Bridge Cap-Pile System

open access: yesShock and Vibration, 2018
In order to investigate the applicability of dynamic stiffness for bridge cap-pile system, a laboratory test was performed. A numerical model was also built for this type of system. The impact load was applied on the cap top and the dynamic stiffness was

Machine Learning‐Assisted Inverse Design of Soft and Multifunctional Hybrid Liquid Metal Composites

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A machine learning framework is presented for inverse design of synthesizable multifunctional composites containing both liquid metal and solid inclusions. By integrating physics‐based modeling, data‐driven prediction, and Bayesian optimization, the approach enables intelligent design of experiments to identify optimal compositions and realize these ...

On the performance of a nonlinear vibration isolator consisting of axially loaded curved beams [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
A desirable characteristic for nonlinear vibration isolators is a high static stiffness and a low dynamic stiffness. A curved beam is a possible candidate for this role provided that the amplitude of vibration about the static equilibrium position is ...

Effects of Varying Tension and Stiffness on Dynamic Characteristics and VIV of Slender Riser [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
A time-domain approach for predicting dynamic characteristics and vortex-induced vibration (VIV) response of deepwater risers is proposed by coupling finite element simulation and a hydrodynamic model.

Integrated Field‐Free SOT Domain‐Wall Synapses and MTJ Stochastic Neurons for Hardware Boltzmann Machines

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Field‐free spin‐orbit torque domain‐wall synapses integrated with stochastic MTJ neurons enable compact hardware Boltzmann machines. Leveraging intrinsic stochasticity and multi‐level conductance, the system achieves efficient probabilistic learning with high accuracy, demonstrating a scalable spintronic platform for energy‐efficient edge AI.

Dynamic Direct Stiffness Method

open access: yes, 2021
The procedure presented in Chap. 8 for the determination of free vibration characteristics of the structural member, by considering it as a system having distributed mass, requires the evaluation of constants which are dependent on the boundary conditions.

Dipole‐Engineered Conductive Additives for Ultrastable Interphase Evolution in High‐Areal‐Capacity Silicon Anodes

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
In the work reported herein, dipole‐engineered sulfonated carbon nanofibers enable conductive additives to actively regulate interphase formation in silicon anodes. Polar sulfonyl groups guide electrolyte decomposition to form a compact LiF‐rich interphase while promoting robust integration with silicon.
