Tuned dynamic vibration absorber
The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1997A vibration absorber is provided for reducing noise and vibration emanating from an electric motor, or another vibrating object, and the surrounding structure to which it is mounted. The vibration absorber has a beam with a mass secured thereto. The vibration absorber is mounted externally to the motor, in a direction perpendicular to an axis of ...

Platelike Dynamic Vibration Absorbers
Journal of Engineering for Industry, 1975Platelike dynamic vibration absorbers of novel design are described, and optimum values of their tuning and damping parameters are specified in graphical form. The dynamic absorbers are assumed to comprise either a circular or an annular damped plate that is loaded at its outer perimeter by a rigid annular mass.

Energy harvesting dynamic vibration absorber under random vibration
2013 IEEE International Conference on Control Applications (CCA), 2013Energy harvesting from structural vibration using piezoelectric material has received much attention in the past few years. The idea is to scavenge energy out of a vibrating host. Coupling energy harvesting with structural vibration control is a challenging task due to conflicting goals.

Vibration absorber with dynamic damper
The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2008In an engine mount (A) whose axis (X) is oriented in the front to rear direction of a vehicle, a damper weight ( 12 ) is embedded within a toroidal stopper rubber ( 10 ) fixed at its inner periphery to the rear end of an inner cylinder ( 2 ). The damper weight ( 12 ) is made of, for example, steel plate to have a spiral form and placed to surround the ...

An adaptive tunable dynamic vibration absorber
The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2007This paper examines a new concept of adaptive tuned dynamic vibration absorbers (ATDVAs) using shape memory alloy (SMA) elements instead of spring elements. Shape memory is a class of alloys that shows a reversible change in crystalline structure. In the martensite phase, the material exhibits a low elastic modulus and yield strength.

Design of a non-traditional dynamic vibration absorber
The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2009A non-traditional dynamic vibration absorber is proposed for the minimization of maximum vibration velocity response of a vibrating structure. Unlike the traditional damped absorber configuration, the proposed absorber has a linear viscous damper connecting the absorber mass directly to the ground instead of the main mass.

Steady-State Behavior of Nonlinear Dynamic Vibration Absorber
Journal of Applied Mechanics, 1961The Frahm-type dynamic vibration absorber is analyzed for the case where both main and absorber springs have nonlinearities of the Duffing type. A one-term-approximation solution is assumed for the motions of the two masses, and the resulting amplitude equation is solved using a graphical procedure.

Dynamics Analysis of Energy Absorbing Device Based on Damped Dynamics Vibration Absorber
Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2015Nowadays, absorbing energy from vibration is one of the most promising technologies. In general, the vibrations may be very large, such as the vibrations of tall buildings, large flexible bridges, and ocean platform and so on in some environmental loading.

Analysis of a Nonlinear Dynamic Vibration Absorber
Journal of Applied Mechanics, 1953Abstract This paper presents a mathematical analysis of the action of a dynamic vibration absorber. The system analyzed consists of a main mass attached to a rigid foundation by a linear spring coupled to the absorber mass by a spring of nonlinear characteristics.

Rail Dynamic Vibration Absorber Design and Vibration Reduction Analysis
Noise & Vibration Worldwide, 2011The rail between two adjacent fasteners is regarded as the research object, and the rail is simplified as the main vibration system of undamped single degree of freedom, which supports the elastic components. The dynamic vibration absorber is simplified as a spring and damped system of 3-DOF(three degrees of freedom), to establish a mathematical model
