Occurrence Mechanism and Suppression Method for Shudder in Automatic Transmission Powertrain

open access: yesInternational Journal of Automotive Engineering, 2014
Shudder occasionally occurs in the lock-up clutch of automatic transmissions when the frictional characteristics of the lock-up clutch have a negative slope with respect to the relative slip velocity. This study evaluates the effect of a dynamic absorber

Fostering Innovation: Streamlining Magnetocaloric Materials Research by Digitalization

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Magnetocaloric cooling (MCE) is an environmentally friendly refrigeration method with great potential. Optimizing MCE materials involves the preparation and screening of large quantities of samples, which in turn generates a large amount of data. A digitalization approach is presented that uses ontologies, knowledge graphs, and digital workflows to ...

Adaptive Piezoelectric Absorber for Active Vibration Control

open access: yesActuators, 2016
Passive vibration control solutions are often limited to working reliably at one design point. Especially applied to lightweight structures, which tend to have unwanted vibration, active vibration control approaches can outperform passive solutions.

Current Status and Challenges in Data Collection for Aerospace Coatings Deposited by Plasma Spraying

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
An innovative approach has been integrated into the GRENAT project to optimize plasma spraying and coating performance. Raw materials are accelerated and melted in the plasma generated by torches, creating coatings. Monitoring sensors collect process data which are combined with ex situ characterization data.

Comparison of Triply Periodic Minimal Surface Energy Absorbers Under Uniaxial Compressive Loading

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study investigates LCD 3D printed Triply Periodic Minimal Surface (TPMS) structures as mechanical energy absorbers. By comparing various base designs and layered combinations under uniaxial compression, it identifies that a Diamond‐Gyroid sandwich structure offers superior performance.

A Practical Noise2Noise Denoising Pipeline for High‐Throughput Raman Spectroscopy

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A lightweight and reproducible denoising pipeline for high‐throughput Raman spectroscopy is introduced, based on a 1D convolutional autoencoder trained with a Noise2Noise strategy. Using only repeated short‐exposure acquisitions, the method suppresses stochastic noise without reference spectra, enabling reliable spectral reconstruction while preserving

High‐Resolution Corrosion Fingerprinting of Alloy Libraries via Microdroplet Spectroelectrochemistry

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Ionic‐liquid microdroplet spectroelectrochemistry enables stable, localized electrochemical measurements over extended timescales. By coupling impedance spectroscopy, wetting analysis, finite‐element simulations, and operando Raman spectroscopy, it disentangles geometrical and electrochemical effects, opening new opportunities for rapid corrosion ...

Vibration Control Using an Air Damped Dynamic Vibration Absorber. Theory of the Three-Element Type of Dynamic Vibration Absorber.

open access: yesTRANSACTIONS OF THE JAPAN SOCIETY OF MECHANICAL ENGINEERS Series C, 1998
In this paper, we propose a dynamic vibration absorber (DVA) with an air damper consisting of a piston and a cylinder. The dynamic behavior of the air damper can conveniently be represented by the Maxwell model where a spring element and a dashpot are connected in series. The air damper has no ability to return the piston to its original position.
