Stability-preserving model order reduction for linear stochastic Galerkin systems

open access: yesJournal of Mathematics in Industry, 2019
Mathematical modeling often yields linear dynamical systems in science and engineering. We change physical parameters of the system into random variables to perform an uncertainty quantification.

TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

A Model for Programmability and Virtuality in Dynamical Neural Networks

open access: yes, 2009
In this dissertation a fixed-weight architecture for Continuous Time Recurrent Neural Networks (CTRNNs) is proposed in order to give an account for biological phenomena, controlled by neuronal activity, in which changes of behavior occur so fast that ...

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Dynamical modeling of SAURON galaxies

open access: yes, 2019
We describe our program for the dynamical modeling of early-type galaxies observed with the panoramic integral-field spectrograph SAURON. We are using Schwarzschild's numerical orbit superposition method to reproduce in detail all kinematical and ...

Dynamical systems forced by shot noise as a new paradigm in the interest rate modeling [PDF]

open access: yes
In this paper we give a generalized model of the interest rates term structure including Nelson-Siegel and Svensson structure. For that we introduce a continuous m-factor exponential-polynomial form of forward interest rates and demonstrate its ...

Subtype‐specific enhancer RNAs define transcriptional regulators and prognosis in breast cancers

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study employed machine learning methodologies to perform the subtype‐specific classification of RNA‐seq data sets, which are mapped on enhancers from TCGA‐derived breast cancer patients. Their integration with gene expression (referred to as ProxCReAM eRNAs) and chromatin accessibility profiles has the potential to identify lineage‐specific and ...

Dynamical modeling of pulsed two-photon interference

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics, 2016
Single-photon sources are at the heart of quantum-optical networks, with their uniquely quantum emission and phenomenon of two-photon interference allowing for the generation and transfer of nonclassical states.

Dynamical approaches to modeling developmental gene regulatory networks

open access: yes
The network of interacting regulatory signals within a cell comprises one of the most complex and powerful computational systems in biology. Gene regulatory networks play a key role in transforming the information encoded in a genome into morphological ...

A Perspective on Modeling and Simulation of Complex Dynamical Systems

open access: yes, 2011
There has been an amazing development of modeling and simulation from its beginning in the 1920s, when the technology was available only at a handful of University groups who had access to a mechanical differential analyzer. Today, tools for modeling and
