Parametric study of friction stir spot welding of aluminium alloy 5754

open access: yesMetalurgija, 2014
The paper presents a parametric analysis of friction stir spot welding (FSSW) of aluminium alloy 5754 in a lap joint. Experimental plan was done according to the response surface methodology (RSM), where tool rotation speed varied between 988 and 3511 ...

A Physics‐Aware Lightweight Transformer Network for Intelligent Bearing Fault Diagnosis Under Variable Operating Conditions

open access: yesArtificial Intelligence for Engineering, EarlyView.
A physics‐aware lightweight transformer converts vibration signals into overlapping patch to kens aligned with bearing defect frequencies, enabling amplitude‐invariant self‐attention that generalises across variable load conditions, achieving 99.2% accuracy with 0.52 M parameters and 8.2 ms inference for real‐time edge deployment.

The Validity of a Portable Strain-Gauge Apparatus Versus a Commercial Isokinetic Dynamometer for Evaluating Knee Extension Kinetics

open access: yes
# Background Isokinetic dynamometers are widely used when assessing neuromuscular function including knee extension kinetics. However, these dynamometers are often prohibitively expensive and are not portable.

Lithic analysis in African archaeology: Advances and key themes

open access: yesArchaeometry, EarlyView.
Abstract Stone artifacts (lithics) preserve for extended periods; thus they are key evidence for probing the evolution of human technological behaviors. Africa boasts the oldest record of stone artifacts, spanning 3.3 Ma, rare instances of ethnographic stone tool‐making, and stone tool archives from diverse ecological settings, making it an anchor for ...

A new versatile hand dynamometer

open access: yes, 2006
This paper describes the design and testing of a new hand strain-gauge based dynamometer. The design is portable and capable of measuring grip strengths from 12.5 to 800N. The dynamometer is independent of point of application of the grip force.

Circulating Musclin is associated with skeletal muscle function and subclinical cardiac dysfunction in patients with cancer

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Background and Purpose Musclin (osteocrin) is a skeletal muscle‐derived peptide that has been implicated in cardioprotective signalling pathways. Its relevance in cancer patients, who frequently experience muscle wasting and cardiotoxicity, remains unclear. This study aimed to determine whether circulating Musclin levels reflect functional capacity and
