A Canine Musculoskeletal Robot for Investigating Biomechanical Functions During Locomotion

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
In this study, a dog limb musculoskeletal robot was developed using thin McKibben artificial muscles to investigate the effects of the dog's musculoskeletal structure on walking. Walking experiments were conducted in both indoor and outdoor environments, suggesting that the flexible structure of the dog's shoulders contributes to an increase in stroke ...

E-Books – den Wandel professionell gestalten / E-books – managing the change professionally

open access: yesGMS Medizin – Bibliothek – Information, 2010
Even acknowledging the considerable reservations of some users – we have to recognize the overall trend towards the use of e-books. The situation resembles the transition from print to electronic journals about ten years ago.

Empowering minds: An e-book blending contextual teaching learning with plant tissue exploration to boost argumentation and cognitive skills

open access: yesBiosfer
This research was motivated by obstacles in implementing biology learning which resulted in the lack of training in argumentation skills and low cognitive learning outcomes. The current teaching materials does not yet support these skills optimally.

Crossing the Blood–Brain Barrier with Molecularly Imprinted Polymeric Nanocarriers: An Emerging Frontier in Brain Disease Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Molecularly imprinted polymeric nanocarriers (nanoMIPs) offer robust, antibody‐mimetic platforms to overcome the blood‐brain barrier. The article surveys nanoMIP design and ligand‐directed surface engineering that harness receptor‐mediated transcytosis, and highlights therapeutic and diagnostic applications in neurodegeneration, brain tumors and ...

A Perspective on Interactive Theorem Provers in Physics

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Into an interactive theorem provers (ITPs), one can write mathematical definitions, theorems and proofs, and the correctness of those results is automatically checked. This perspective goes over the best usage of ITPs within physics and motivates the open‐source community run project PhysLean, the aim of which is to be a library for digitalized physics

Targeting DAP5 Disrupts Alternate Mode of Translational Initiation in Tregs and Potentiates Antitumor Immunity

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Regulatory T cells (Tregs) suppress antitumor immunity. This study identifies that the translation scaffold DAP5/eIF4G2 is upregulated in tumor‐infiltrating Tregs (ti‐Tregs). DAP5 mediates an alternate translation mode to sustain CD25 and MCL‐1 expression, which is critical for ti‐Treg stability and survival in the tumor microenvironment.
