Flagellin, the protomeric subunit of bacterial flagella, contains no cysteine. We have detected the incorporation of trace quantities of 35S-cysteine into flagellin, highly purified and then resolved by SDS polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis, to measure mistranslation in vivo.

Extra-Intestinal Escherichia coli (Uropathogenic E. coli and Avian Pathogenic E. coli)
2016Extra-intestinal pathogenic E. coli (ExPEC) is the most common Gram-negative bacterial pathogen, and it is associated to many animal diseases. Within the ExPEC classification are the uropathogenic Escherichia coli strains that are able to cause pyelonephritis, prostatitis, and catheter-associated urinary tract infections (UTIs) as well as community ...

Udgivelsesdato: 2003-null ; Owing to cost advantage, speed of production, and often high product yield (up to 50% of total cell protein), expression in Escherichia coli is generally the first choice when attempting to express a recombinant protein. Expression systems exist to produce recombinant protein intracellularly (soluble or in inclusion bodies),

To the Editor.— On April 22,1971, a 21-year-old woman was referred to me by a podiatric surgeon because of delayed healing following foot surgery three weeks earlier. She had been treated with ampicillin for one week. A fasting blood glucose level was 82 mg/100 ml. A residual eczematoid reaction was present in the area of the foot surgery.
