An inhibitory domain of E12 transcription factor prevents DNA binding in E12 homodimers but not in E12 heterodimers

Cell, 1991
The kappa E2 sequence binding proteins, E12 and E47, are generated by alternative splicing of the E2A gene, giving closely related basic and helix-loop-helix structures crucial for DNA binding and dimerization. Measurements of dimerization constants and binding strengths to the optimal DNA sequence (the kappa E2 site or its near relatives) showed that ...

E12 sheet plastination: Techniques and applications

Clinical Anatomy, 2017
Plastination is an anatomical technique that consists of replacing the liquids and fat of specimens by reactive polymers through forced impregnation in a vacuum. These are then polymerized to achieve the final result. E12 sheet plastination involves epoxy resin impregnation of thin (2–4 mm) and ultra‐thin (<2 mm) tissue sheets, producing dry ...

E12 technique: Conventional epoxy resin sheet plastination

Anatomia, Histologia, Embryologia, 2019
AbstractEpoxy plastination techniques were developed to obtain thin transparent body slices with high anatomical detail. This is facilitated because the plastinated tissue is transparent and the topography of the anatomical structures well preserved.

E12 Sleep disturbance among Juvenile idiopathic arthritis patients

Rheumatology, 2023
Abstract Background Juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA) is a common pediatric condition that is often associated with chronic pain and physical disability. Moreover, it is also comorbid with sleep problems which considerably affects the patient’s daily functioning [1].

E12 Technique: An Aid to Study Sinuses of Psittacine Birds

Cells Tissues Organs, 1997
Infraorbital sinus infections, which form the bulk of upper respiratory tract infections in companion birds, are commonly encountered in clinical practice and often require medical and/or surgical management. The infraorbital sinus with its dorsal drainage into the nasal cavity makes it difficult to treat these infections.

The immune responses of the prime-boost regimen with rBCG-E12 and rDIs-E12 candidate vaccine

2006
In the previous study, a research group in NIID, Japan demonstrated that the V3 sequence of 12 amino acids of HIV-1 CRF01_AE (E12 epitope) fused with mycobacterial α-antigen was secreted from BCG cells (rBCG-E12) and could induce NT-Ab against CRF01_AE primary isolates. However, the NT-Ab titer in guinea pig was not enough to obtain protective efficacy.

MyoD−E12 Heterodimers and MyoD−MyoD Homodimers Are Equally Stable

Biochemistry, 1997
Muscle development is controlled by the MyoD family of basic helix-loop-helix (bHLH) DNA-binding proteins. These proteins dimerize with ubiquitous products of the E2A gene (E12 and E47) and bind in a sequence-specific manner to enhancer regions of muscle-specific genes activating their expression.
