The Optically Unbiased GRB Host (TOUGH) survey. IV. Lyman-alpha emitters [PDF]
We report the results of a spectroscopic search for Lyman-alpha emission from gamma-ray burst host galaxies. Based on the well-defined TOUGH sample of 69 X-ray selected Swift GRBs, we have targeted the hosts of a subsample of 20 GRBs known from afterglow spectroscopy to be in the redshift range 1.8-4.5. We detect Lya emission from 7 out of the 20 hosts,

Timelike Bertrand Curves in Semi-Euclidean Space [PDF]
In this paper, it is proved that, no special timelike Frenet curve is a Bertrand curve in $\mathbb{E}_2^4$ and also, in $\mathbb{E}_\nu^{n+1}$ $ ({n \ge 3})$, such that the notion of Bertrand curve is definite only in $\mathbb{E}_1^2$ and $\mathbb{E}_1^3$

Why people use digital payments: Evidence from micro data in Peru
Financial inclusion and digital payment use remain low in Peru. There is extensive literature on the determinants of deposit account access as a measure of financial inclusion, but few studies focus on digital payment use, and none addresses the Peru ...

Prerequisites for a computational approach to Minoan chronology
Abstract The paper examines the development, adoption, and limitations of the relative chronology system for Minoan pottery, initially established by Sir Arthur Evans and Duncan Mackenzie during the excavation of Knossos (1900–1906). Despite its weaknesses, this system remained largely unchanged due to its convenience rather than its accuracy.

ABSTRACT Sport‐related concussion is a rising public health concern with claims that there is a concussion crisis in sport. An estimated 36% of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples participate in sport‐related activity at least once per week; yet, there is a paucity of information relating to concussion assessment in this population.

CBDC and Trust in A Central Bank: Transitivity Of Preferences Vs. The Privacy Paradox
The privacy and anonymity of transactions are considered some of the biggest challenges when designing Central Bank Digital Currencies (CBDC). While many surveys show that people strongly prefer privacy in their transactions, behavioral theories suggest ...

Finite-Dimensional Representations of the Quantum Superalgebra U$_{q}$[gl(2/2)]: I. Typical representations at generic $q$ [PDF]
In the present paper we construct all typical finite-dimensional representations of the quantum Lie superalgebra $U_{q}[gl(2/2)]$ at generic deformation parameter $q$.

Optimization of the HypTPC field cage for E42/E45 experiments at J-PARC
Computations of electric field and the electron drift volume of the HypTPC for E42 experiment have been accomplished with FEM and Garfield software. The double side strips field cage with shielding flange has been developed. The advantage of application a Kapton based field cage with mirror strips has been proved. According to a simulation results the

Joint Wire Cutting with Non‐Maximally Entangled States
Wire cutting decomposes large quantum circuits into smaller subcircuits by severing connecting wires, enabling execution on multiple distributed devices. This study employs non‐maximally entangled (NME) states in joint wire cuts to reduce their overhead.
