An In-Situ Analysis Method in EAF and BOF Steelmaking [PDF]
Abstract An analysis was conducted to gage the feasibility of using a spectroscopic method to determine the chemical composition of the liquid metal phase in EAF and BOF steelmaking. The hypothesis that certain radiation intensities found in UV- and UV-near regions of an spectrum emitted from the hot-spot in the BOF or the impingement ...

Preface to the Proceedings of the 5th European Academic Symposium on EAF Steelmaking [PDF]
Abstract The European Academic Symposium on EAF Steelmaking (EASES) is a series of events targeted at researchers and doctoral candidates working with different aspects of electric arc furnace (EAF) steelmaking. Previously, four events were organised in 2015, 2016, 2018, and 2021 in Aachen, Germany. The 5th European Academic Symposium on

Phase Equilibrium Diagram for Electric Arc Furnace Slag Optimization in High Alloyed Chromium Stainless Steelmaking [PDF]
The electric arc furnace (EAF) process for steelmaking of Cr and Ni high alloyed stainless steel grades differs significantly from the steelmaking process of carbon steel due to the special raw materials and generally lower oxygen consumption.

Numerical simulation of scrap preheating in EAF steelmaking
In order to make full use of waste heat of electric arc furnace (EAF) flue gas to preheat scrap steel,a three-dimensional unsteady random distribution local model of scrap preheating process was established on the platform of computational fluid dynamics

New approach to nitrogen control in EAF steelmaking
High grade steels, particularly in flat products are associated with low levels of dissolved nitrogen. For deep drawing steels it is desirable to keep nitrogen levels below 50 ppm, where as a range of 120 to 150ppm is acceptable for high strength structural steels (1).

Effect of Lance Structure on Behavior of Coherent Jet in EAF Steelmaking Process. [PDF]
During the electric arc furnace steelmaking process, the coherent jet technology was widely used to protect the kinetic energy of the supersonic oxygen jet and achieve better mixing effects. Comparing with the conventional oxygen lance, the coherent lance could increase the surface area of impaction cavity, resulting in a better stirring effect and ...
