Predicting children’s real-ear-to-coupler differences based on tympanometric data
Paediatric hearing-aid verification relies on measures of output obtained from the ear canal or in a coupler with the child’s real-ear-to-coupler difference (RECD).

Abstract The complex evolutionary history behind modern mammalian chewing performance and hearing function is a result of several changes in the entire skeletomuscular system of the skull and lower jaw. Lately, exciting multifunctional 3D analytical methods and kinematic simulations of feeding functions in both modern and fossil mammals and their ...

Spontaneously Extruded Osteoma of the External Auditory Canal
Osteomas of the external ear canal are rare but benign bony growths. We present a case report of an external auditory canal osteoma in a 74-year-old female that spontaneously extruded from the ear.

Statistical shape modeling of the human inner ear through micro‐computed tomography imaging
In this study, 54 cadaveric temporal bone specimens underwent high‐resolution micro‐CT imaging. Images were semi‐automatically segmented and converted to 3D surface mesh models for morphological measurement and analysis. Statistical shape models were created for the inner ear, cochlea, and vestibular system, as well as for sex‐ and side‐based subgroups.

Ontogeny of murine bony semicircular canal form
Abstract The labyrinthine geometry and functional anatomy of the semicircular canals have intrigued scientists for decades, and there has been considerable interest in understanding how these complex structures grow and develop with evidence emerging from human studies that size maturation occurs exceptionally early by comparison with other systems ...

Purpose. There is a lack of identifying suitable regions in the head that can be used for three-dimensional superimposition techniques. For this reason, with the use of cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT), the ear canals were analyzed to verify changes ...
