Thyroid Cartilage Reconstruction With Titanium Mesh in Advanced Papillary Thyroid Carcinoma

The Laryngoscope, EarlyView.
We report the first case of titanium mesh reconstruction of the thyroid cartilage following resection of papillary thyroid carcinoma with preservation of the laryngeal mucosa. This technique provided excellent functional outcomes while maintaining oncologic resection in a patient with locally advanced disease.

Laryngeal Cryotherapy for Neurogenic Cough: Safety, Feasibility, and Prospective Outcomes

The Laryngoscope, EarlyView.
A prospective clinical trial investigated the safety and clinical outcomes of office‐based selective laryngeal cryotherapy for patients with refractory chronic cough. Patient were followed for 6 months posttreatment and had durable improvement in cough severity index and urge‐to‐cough scores and no serious long term adverse effects.

Effects of Intubation Duration on Trachea: A Histopathological Study

This study evaluated the histopathological effects of prolonged endotracheal intubation on the human trachea using biopsy specimens obtained during tracheotomy. Prolonged intubation was associated with progressive inflammatory and structural changes, with tracheal dilatation and perichondritis increasing significantly after 14 days.

Ear Piercing Complications: Comparing Cartilage and Soft Tissue Piercings in a Large Survey Cohort. [PDF]

Cartilage ear piercings were associated with significantly higher complication rates than lobule piercings and remained an independent predictor of complications after multivariate analysis. Cartilage site also independently predicted piercing removal, with higher removal rates observed compared to lobule piercings.

Evaluating the Local Response of a Novel Injectable Capsule for Drug Delivery in the Trachea

A novel PLGA polymer capsule was developed for localized pretracheal drug delivery and evaluated for short‐term local tissue safety in a rabbit model. Implant placement was confirmed by ultrasound and was well tolerated over 14 days, with preservation of airway patency, native tracheal architecture, and biomechanical properties.
