Delayed Versus Early Umbilical Cord Clamping [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Immediate cord clamping is a part of the active management of the third stage of labor. Active management is standard birth protocol because it significantly reduces the risk of maternal postpartum hemorrhaging.

Effect of early versus delayed cord clamping in neonate on heart rate, breathing and oxygen saturation during first 10 minutes of birth - randomized clinical trial

open access: yesMaternal Health, Neonatology and Perinatology, 2019
Background Delayed cord clamping (DCC) after 180 s reduces iron deficiency up to 8 months of infancy compared to babies who received Early Cord Clamping (ECC) at less than 60 s. Experimentally DCC has shown to improve cardio-vascular stability.

Investigation of the relationship between cord clamping time and risk of hyperbilirubinemia

open access: yesThe Turkish Journal of Pediatrics, 2020
Background. Although the relationship between umbilical cord clamping time and various parameters such as hemoglobin (Hb) levels, iron deficiency, and risk of neonatal jaundice has previously been studied, to the best of our knowleadge there have ...

A review on development of placental transfusion in term and preterm infants

open access: yesFrontiers in Pediatrics, 2022
In recent years, it has been verified that placental transfusion can replenish blood volume of neonates, improve organ perfusion in the early postnatal stage, and facilitate the transition from fetal circulation to adult circulation. Meanwhile, placental

Loss of SHP1 in Spinal Astrocytes Triggers T‐Lymphocyte Infiltration and Nociceptive Hypersensitivity

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Astrocyte‐specific SHP1 deletion disrupts astrocyte–vascular interactions and compromises BBB integrity while enhancing STAT1‐dependent CXCL10 expression. These changes synergistically promote peripheral CD4+ and CD8+ T‐cell infiltration into the SDH. The infiltrating T cells secrete IFN‐γ, which in turn activates microglia.

Targeting CXCR2 in Nociceptive Sensory Neurons Offers Novel Therapeutic Potentials for Postoperative Pain

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Tissue incision induces CXCL5 release, which activates neuronal CXCR2 on incision‐innervating sensory neurons. Neuronal CXCR2 couples with TRPA1 to drive mechanical pain and engages p38 MAPK signaling to upregulate TRPV1 and promote heat pain. Targeted Cxcr2 knockdown relieves incisional pain while preserving CXCR2‐dependent neutrophil responses ...

Effect of different timings of umbilical cord clamping on the level of CD34+ cells in full-term neonates

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2023
Despite the fact that delayed cord clamping (DCC) is recommended by many international organizations, early cord clamping is still widely practiced worldwide.

Photobiomodulation‑Engineered Extracellular Vesicles Enhance Neural Differentiation via UFL1‑Mediated UFMylation in Spinal Cord Injury

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Photobiomodulated microglia release engineered extracellular vesicles that deliver UFL1 to the injured spinal cord. UFL1 competitively binds p53 with MDM2, inhibiting p53 ubiquitination and stabilizing p53 signaling. This dual mechanism simultaneously promotes anti‐inflammatory microglial polarization and directs neural stem cell differentiation toward

The Comparison Between Delayed Cord Clamping and Immediate Cord Clamping on Fetal Outcomes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
The research question that is being asked is, are newborns, who are delivered vaginally, that have their umbilical cord clamped immediately after birth at a disadvantage for improved health benefits compared to newborns who received delayed cord clamping?

Less Residual placental blood volume left when cord pulsation ceases than when early cord clamping at 60 seconds

open access: yesClinical and Experimental Obstetrics & Gynecology, 2020
Objectives: Our goal was to test the volume of residual placental blood volume (RPBV) left with delayed cord clamping occurring when pulsation of the umbilical artery ceases as compared to early cord clamping at 60 seconds along with an assessment of its
